Match 3 games are a dime a dozen, especially on mobile platforms. Most are bare bones affairs but occasionally fans get a title that goes the extra mile to make their game stand out. Jolly Match is definitely in the realm of Candy Crush Saga in many ways. That could be a good, or bad, thing depending on where you stand on the all the extra aesthetics that, honestly, can slow down the gameplay a bit. Again, Jolly Ranch has that fanfare.

<h2>Jolly Match Has a Story… Of Sorts</h2>

Unlike most Match 3 games there is a story in Jolly Match, a basic one but still one, nonetheless. There was a devastating tornado that ravaged famous landmarks leaving them haphazardly damaged. Your goal is to rebuild them with the help of four characters you meet along your journey.

Interestingly, each character has unique abilities to help in certain situations. This is a nice touch and gives the little creature at the top of the screen a purpose beyond distracting you with repeated animations.

<h2>Sticking to the Formula that Works</h2>

Jolly Match does not stray too far from the format that Candy Crush Saga laid out. Powerups are similar and easily recognizable to anyone that plays Match 3 games regularly. You would not be wrong to, at first, think this is related to Candy Crush Saga somehow just based on the graphics. 

Things jiggle and bounce featuring familiar looking animations. This is normal, par for the course, as a bouncing animation is hard to make unique – it is a bounce after all.

As you complete levels you can place pieces of the scene, if you have enough stars to do so. It is a nice touch and gives players a bit more to do than just rapidly tap next on the screen.

Will it hold your attention? That depends on what you are wanting out of Jolly Match. It is fun seeing the landmarks come back to life based on your choices. The actual gameplay is Match 3 through and through, there is nothing to revolutionize here – you are either a fan of it or not. If you are, Jolly Match is definitely one to check out.
