Who doesn’t like a good old fashioned one-on-one fighter? Two companies that went at each other were Capcom and SNK. They fought each other similar to how the WWF (now WWE) and WCW (now owned by WWE) went at each other on television in the 90’s. The difference is, Capcom and SNK battled in the arcades and in homes, even having a crossover release or two – such as this game. Being released on the Neo Geo Pocket Color didn’t help the original reach the maximum number of fans. Now we can add a version on the Commodore 64/128 to the list, I just hope more fans try it.

Fans Doing What Companies Will Not

Capcom is no stranger to the Commodore 64, they supported it with a few published titles in the mid to late 80’s. They were more prolific in licensing out their titles to other companies for publishing though, such as U.S. Gold and Elite. I know the chances of seeing them officially releasing anything today on the Commodore 64 is pretty much not happening. I hope they kind of turn a blind eye to fan developers that are doing that though.
I understand they must protect their IPs and I respect that. Most fan developers do to, that is why they release these ports for free, only creating them out of love for the game and platform.
This port is quite impressive, you have supers, various attacks, and get around button limitations using the keyboard. It is clunky to play with the keyboard but works.

Difference between 64 and 128

There are two versions available over on [RetroGL’s YouTube video]( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7XK97lyTn7o).
One for the Commodore 64 and one for the Commodore 128. Now if you were someone that dropped cash on the upgrade known as the Commodore 128, you may have noticed a lack of games specifically for it, or even taking advantage of it. Obviously, the C64 was the more popular machine so publishers supported it for MANY years after Commodore ceased to even exist.
Talk about a legacy.
Okay, here are the changes between the C64 version of SNK vs Capcom and the C128 version.
The level scrolls in the Commodore 128 version. It doesn’t have line scrolls on the floor or parallax in the background, it simply has a wider arena to fight in.
There may be other differences but I could not pinpoint them. Personally, I preferred the C64, no scroll, version in my play tests.
