#Ulog #3 "The Silver Fairy."

<center>**The Silver Fairy.**</center> 

<center>*It was just before Christmas and the streets of Melbourne, Australia were buzzing with pre-Christmas adrenaline. Decorations lined the streets, retail outlets were luring shoppers in with tempting bargains and the atmosphere was electric.*</center>

<center>*And amongst all the rush and clamour stood an elegant Silver Fairy. Smiling calmly and moving only when she deemed it necessary to do so, I joined the fascinated queue to get a closer look.*</center>

<center>*Every square inch of her was awash in silver. I wonder if her eyes were silver too? I didnt get that close. But little girls in love with fairies and their magic timidly approached this larger than life Silver Fairy because she had something very special in her silver bag.*</center>

<center>*It was all a bit of a mystery and I was determined to stay until I'd figured out what the Silver Fairy was giving to everyone free of charge. Was is sweets? Was it coins? Was it Fairy Dust? I had no idea.*</center>

<center>*Months later, as I organized this blog it finally all became very clear to me. I had made the mistake of trying to work out what was in the silver bag and why people young and old, flocked to receive whatever this unidentified substance was.*</center> 

<center>*Neither of those things mattered. At all! It was the gift that mattered. In the Spirit of Christmas, these transactions that were taking place made the giver, the receivers and the onlookers feel very good. The postive vibes were everywhere and I am reminded again about the powerful act of giving.*</center> 

<center>*It's not a matter of 'what' you give, but the 'act' of giving that is highly valued. The Silver Fairy could have been pouring silver sand into people's hands.  They would have been happy. So, even though it is not Christmas and this story occured during that special time of the year, I'd like to encourage you to find someone that will appreciate a small, random act of kindness today. It could make all the difference in the world to both of you.*</center>

Sometimes it could be just a smile, a wave, an acknowledgement, unselfishness,  that could brighten someone's day.  It should be easy but often we do not think about it every day.
