Steemit's Growth Is Unstoppable, From #690 to #579 Most Popular Website In Just 9 Days - Not Long Before It Becomes As Recognizable As Bitcoin!

<p>If you follow my posts closely you might have noticed how I have started keeping track of <a href="https://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/steemit.com">Steemit's growth over Alexa</a>, where you can check how popular a site is.</p>
<p>&nbsp;Actually, I have got hooked to it and check it at least once a day. So yesterday, steemit was the #601 most popular site in the U.S. and today it finally broke the top-600 barrier, sitting comfy at position #579 in the U.S Market:</p>

<p>In case you are confused, the smaller the number the better, with <a href="https://www.google.com">google.com </a>being #1. And the smaller it gets the more difficult it gets to get a better ranking. Still, steemit's growth seems to be unstoppable! Just have a look at these graphs:</p>

<p>Out of curiosity, I checked something else too that I hadn't checked before. I took a look at the Alexa Rank of the two most popular (to my knowledge) bitcoin-related sites. The results definitely surprised me.</p>
<p>First, let's see <a href="https://bitcointalk.org">bitcointalk.org</a>, which I believe is the most visited place for everything bitcoin (and alt-coin) related:</p>

<p>As you can see, in the U.S market steemit.com has already way, way more visitors than these two sites and the same will be true for the global market in a matter of &nbsp;a few months tops.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Of course this doesn't mean that the Steemit brand is more recognizable than Bitcoin but it really makes you think... With the popularity of the platform increasing by the day how long will it take to have the same recognition as Bitcoin?&nbsp;</p>
<p>We have more and more people joining everyday and telling their friends to join. And we already have small youtube stars like @answerswithjoe (86k subscribers on youtube) &nbsp;and the @thegamechasers (108k subscribers on youtube). It's only a matter of time for the really big names to start joining! Not to mention how steemit already has way <a href="https://steemit.com/record/@steemitblog/steem-blockchain-breaks-1-000-000-transactions">more transactions than BTC does without breaking a sweat!</a></p>
<p>In my opinion we are about to reach the point of critical mass, if we already haven't and then the moon will be within our grasp! And that is with steemit still missing some really key-futures (e.g. communities &amp; smart tokens) that are coming in the next couple of months....&nbsp;</p>
<p>How long do you think it will take until steemit becomes as recognizable as bitcoin? How long until every grandma and grandpa on the mountains has a faint idea about it like they have about btc? How long until we see it featured on The Simpsons and other popular tv shows? I would say 1, max 2 years!&nbsp;</p>

I think it's definitely growing in popularity but much has to do with the value of Steem. If that goes up, news will break more and more and so more will flock to the site.

Well certainly there is some connection between the two but as long as steem is 1-2$ or more ( hence offering nice payouts) steemit's popularity is relatively independent from it's price because it's a social media site :)

Yeah absolutely!!! Especially after @mobbs's post on his steem-laptop, i'm getting more and more excited about where we can go if the people in charge takes a few smart decisions and relation with banks goes slightly in our favor!! And transaction with steem has been almost instantaneous!!

I'm sure a lot of you guys already know this, but there is a way we can all help get the word out.  If you see an interesting article on Quora or Medium or Reddit, add a post or comment there linking back to an article here on Steemit.  That way, when Google bots are crawling the web counting links, they'll see this, and reward the linked Steemit articles by making them show up higher in Google search results.
