Anway dad gave me a Swiss army knife before I was a teenager. I've got two daughters. Don't see me getting either one of them anything sharp anytime soon. 

This particular Swiss army knife was factory, just out of the box sharp. I cut each and every one of my fingertips. There was the nice, laceration to the thin, backhand side layer of skin which always healed first because of all the capillaries and nerve endings. Versus the more advantageous palm-side cuts which would have been more convenient for all the extra padding. 

At least as the calloused skin healed, it gave me something to do biting off all the dead skin. Luck would have it that I healed with mutant speed, but not before I cut my dad's favorite chair. 

I also, almost removed one of my fingerprints with a nice"v" shaped slice to the thick "white meat" of my index or middle finger. I can't remember which one; it healed quite nicely.
