Hello, bees!!! Today's recipe is about getting to eat one of those vegetables that are not very easy to like, chayote. I know a lot of people who don't like that, but we mostly eat it in soups and its flavor is really shallow with a weirdly soft texture; so I'm trying a different approach that it's pretty, so you want to eat it, and with power flavors so you don't get disappointed. Chayote doesn't have much flavor but it's really good at embracing whatever flavor you add to it. Let's start!

Conozco a mucha gente a la que no le gusta, pero la mayoría de las veces lo comemos en sopas y su sabor es realmente débil, con una textura extrañamente suave; así que estoy probando un enfoque diferente que sea bonito, para que quieras comerlo, y con sabores potentes para que no te decepcione. El chayote no tiene mucho sabor, pero es realmente bueno para abrazar cualquier sabor que le añadas. ¡Comencemos!.

The main character is the chayote, you can leave the skin if it's fresh, thin, and soft, but if you are not sure, peal it, because it can be too fibrous. Cut and take out the seed. Then chop into cubes of about 1 cm. 
Cut the other vegetables into thin but long pieces, like julienne or wedges. 

Put into a bowl and add oil, salt, pepper, a part of the rosemary finely chopped, and the other complete. Mix it evenly, trying not to break the vegetables.  Places them evenly in a baking pan and cook with high heat for 40 minutes or until it is golden.

El protagonista es el chayote, pueden dejarle la piel si es fresco, fino y suave, pero si no están seguros, pélenlo, porque puede ser demasiado fibroso. Corten y saquen la semilla. A continuación,hay que cortarlo en cubos de aproximadamente 1 cm. 
Las demás verduras se cortan en trozos finos pero largos, como juliana o plumas. 

Poner en un bol y añadir el aceite, la sal, la pimienta, una parte del romero finamente picado y el otro completo. Mézclalo uniformemente, procurando no romper las verduras.  Colócalas uniformemente en una bandeja de horno y cocínalas a fuego fuerte durante 40 minutos o hasta que estén doradas.

For the dressing, I thought this need an intense flavor because the chayote is very soft. Fry some garlic in a tbsp of butter with a few capers, mustard, and salt. I don't even like capers but they work great for this. Once the garlic is a bit soft, smash it all and add to the chayote after serving. Don't add too much, it's just a little touch but with a bomb of flavor.

And that's it! A tasty way to eat chayote.

Para el aderezo, pensé que este necesitaba un sabor intenso porque el chayote es muy suave. Fría un poco de ajo en una cucharada de mantequilla con unas cuantas alcaparras, mostaza y sal. A mí no me gustan las alcaparras pero para esto funcionan muy bien. Una vez que el ajo esté un poco blando, machácalo todo y añádelo al chayote después de servirlo. No añadas demasiado, es sólo un pequeño toque pero con una bomba de sabor.

Y ya está. Una forma sabrosa de comer chayote.
