My wife and me started to use an Amazon Echo since last year. We use it for alarm, instrumental music, question and answer etc. It helps to make life more convenient and entertaining. Are there any implications by using modern technology today?

First, modern technology has made information readily available. However, it requires our part to discern the information and make wise decision as and when necessary. It is good to grow in knowledge, equally it is vital to equip oneself to utilise knowledge to serve the good purpose in life. 

Second, modern technology has made communication more convenient. With the use of social media, nowadays we can keep in touch with friends, relatives and colleagues both far and near at all times. However, human relationship can rather superficial because we do not take time to inculcate deeper friendship and relationship, which may often require us to spend time together. 

Third, modern technology can cause people living in a virtual  world rather than the reality. By living in a virtual world, we unconsciously segregate ourselves from inevitable relationship including with both the human and the transcendence. What makes us truly human beings is indeed the right relationship, without which, there is no purpose and meaning for life. Thus, advancement of technology can give us ample knowledge but not our authentic destiny beyond the here and now. 

我和妻子在去年开始使用亚马逊 Echo 智能音箱。我们用它作闹钟、播放音乐、问题解答等。它的确可以使生活更方便和提供一些娱乐。到底今天使用现代技术器材有什么意义呢？

首先，现代技术促进了资讯传播。然而，资讯普遍化令我们更需要辨别信息，并在必要时作出明智的决定。在知识上成长是件好事，同样重要的是要以智慧应用知识来达到人生的目的。

其次，现代科技使交流更加方便。随着使用各种社交媒体，我们可以随时与亲朋好友和同事保持联系。然而，这样的社交有时反而使人际关系变得肤浅，因为我们没有花时间来培养较深入的友谊和关系，的确我们必须花时间在一起才可能建立深入的关系。

第三，现代科技已形成一些人生活在虚拟世界而脱离现实。生活在虚拟的世界，我们变成无意识地把自己与周围的人隔离起来了。到底什么是我们人类不可少的呢？人需要关系，没有了和人並超越者的正常关系，生活就没有目的和意义。雖然科技的进步已经为我们提供了丰富的知识，但不等於我们能真正地达到个人和人类的命定。
