The 3x promotion feature I talked about in [day 4](https://steemit.com/steemfollower/@twodollars/day-4-of-testing-out-steemfollower) (see also days [1](https://steemit.com/steemfollower/@twodollars/day-1-of-testing-out-steemfollower), [2](https://steemit.com/steemfollower/@twodollars/day-2-of-testing-out-steemfollower), and [3](https://steemit.com/steemfollower/@twodollars/day-3-of-testing-out-steemfollower)), opened the floodgates of votes, but it really used up my steemfollower points quickly so I only plan to use the 3x promote feature sparingly if I ever use it again. Although the 3x promotion was somewhat costly, I think I may even come out ahead with the the points purchased in the market and the points used in the 3x promotion (assuming SBD is still at these high prices when I receive the post rewards). The exposure from the promote feature also helped my post receive several good comments, and in one of the comments @transcript-junky mentioned what I observed that the 3x gobbles up points, but they mentioned that "2x is ideal" for their situation, so I plan to try the 2x feature at some point when I write a post that seems worthy of promoting.

Another comment I received was from @reseller where they talked about how @mahdiyari has a new version of steemfollower coming out shortly (see post in Discord for the details), and that new version seems really good and it is going to be on github and open source which is nice because I would like to see how to program some of the features that are being used on steemfollower.

One aspect of the new version of steemfollower that I think will be most beneficial is that the "reward system will be at 100% (no additional rewards)" because I had been wondering if the 140% reward upvote for users with less than 50 Steem was causing excessive inflation of points. Also, the 140% rewards could potentially be exploited by, for example, someone with over 500 Steem not being happy with 105% reward and deciding to create a bunch of new steem accounts, and then be the one to refer them to steemfollower to take advantage of both the 140% rewards and the 5% referral bonus. It may sound like a lot of effort to create a bunch of accounts to get a reward bonus, but I think a lot of people who don't care much about steemit, steemfollower, or etiquette, would be interested in exploiting a system that can potentially generate a return that is 40% better than voting on their own posts which is why I am very happy to see the new version being at 100% with no additional rewards.
