## [Vice News] North Koreans Facing Discrimination in Koreatown, Los Angeles

This article highlights that not all is well for North Koreans even after they escape from their own country. Even in modern day society, they are discriminated when they work for South Korean companies, losing their respect for them or even withholding their pay. An interviewee even stated that her North Korean friend would rather live in Los Angeles over Seoul, because they wouldn't be able to differentiate between North and South Koreans in the US as much. This becomes a speed bump in the reunification process in that North and South Koreans need to understand that they are closer than they think they are.

## What do other Countries think about Korean Reunification?

This article highlights the thoughts of other countries and their ulterior motives for their support or lack of support for the reunification of Korea. The history in context of each country with Korea is briefly explored, where implications begin to emerge regarding how each country feels about the reunification process. 
1) **United States** - The US supports a unified Korea, only if it's democratic, and preferably if they were not as strong as them, so they can control the unified Korea. 
2) **China** - China feels that it is easier to deal with Korea that is divided over a united Korea in all aspects of Korea-China transactions.
3) **Japan** - Although Japan has limited direct influence over the future of Korea, Japan has to clarify its national interests in a unified Korea and take necessary measures to help ensure that unified Korean political and economic systems maintain long-term bilateral relations with Japan.
4) **Russia** - To Russia, a unified Korea is more important for its economic policies rather than its political structure.

## Contemplations from an Uncle in South Korea

This article highlights a few conversations that I had with my relatives and family friends regarding the history of South Korea and the possibility of Korean reunification. This post in particular is important to me because listening to an individual's narrative and the raw emotions that they feel is completely different then reading up on events that are on the internet, on TV, or on the newspaper.
