There is one thing that messes with my head.....

You see, I'm what people will describe as taciturn. Talking is not my thing....I find it exhausting. I try to talk as little as possible, except when it matters. Of course when I'm around people I care about, people that matter, I'll make the sacrifice, but even then I'd step out every once in a while to recharge......

Now, I also don't like being rude. So when I'm around someone, I'm might make a comment, or ask a question. I do this not because I want to talk, but because I'm acknowledging your existence within that vicinity, so just give a one word reply and look away. It's that simple!

But most people take that as an invitation to have a conversation. Now I'm stuck listening to a bunch of things I'm not interested in for God knows how long!

It’s as if they don’t realize that my silence isn’t a sign of openness, but a shield. I want to be polite, I really do, but the energy it takes to maintain small talk just drains me. Sometimes I wish I could just be left in my own quiet space without the pressure to fill every silence. 

I guess what I’m trying to say is, I value genuine connection over pointless chatter. If we can share a moment of understanding without words, I’d prefer that over a thousand meaningless sentences. Just don’t mistake my quietness for indifference  it’s just how I process the world around me.
