안녕하세요
이번 Status ico에 참여하신분들이 매우 많았을것으로 생각됩니다.

Hi guys,
I think there are many people who joined Status fundraising.


개인적으로 아주 오래전부터 눈여겨보고 있던 프로젝트였고
과연 위스퍼(이더리움의 메시징 기술)가 수많은 접속자들이 동시다발적으로 보내는 메시지를 감당할 수 있을지 궁금하기도 했고요. 

Status가 이더리움 위에서 작동하기 때문에 Status 그 자체의 개발도 중요하겠지만 결국 이더리움이 얼마나 받쳐주느냐가 관건일거라는 생각에 무조건적인 희망만 가질수는 없는 프로젝트이기도 했습니다.

초창기부터 슬랙에 참여하여 SGT(커뮤니티 참여자들에게 제공한 Status Genesis Token으로 전체 SNT발행량의 10퍼센트정도가 여기에 할당됩니다) 도 받았고 ICO에도 물론 참여하고자 했습니다..만

이번 ICO를 진행하면서 조금 아쉬운점들이 보였고, 앞으로 계속 진행될 새로운 ICO들은 차차 개선되어야 할 것이기에 적어보고자 합니다.


I've been looking forward to this ICO, and I've participated in the community for a long time.
But there were some tiny problems during this event, so I'm gonna talk about it.




(1) ICO에 관련한 명확한 소통의 부재

사실 Status팀들은 소통을 엄청 많이 했습니다. 끊임없이 슬랙에서 유저들이랑 대화를 나눴고 질문에 대한 답변도 나름 열심히 하는 모습이었고요.
Actually, Status team constantly communicated with the users in Slack and they answered their questions with great effort.


그런데 정작 ICO에 대해서는 명확한 소통이 부족했습니다.
Hard ceiling이 300,000ETH인데, 모금을 여기까지 한다는 것인지 단지 failsafe limit이 여기까지라는 것인지 도통 정확히 알 수가 없더군요.

However, there was not clear communication about ICO.
Hard ceiling was 300,000 ETH, but I can not figure out exactly if the funding is up to this limit or if it's just the failsafe limit.

이용약관에는 Hard ceiling 이 300,000ETH라고 명시되어 있고 이 금액에 도달하면 펀드레이징이 종료된다고 써져있습니다. 하지만 레딧에서 팀 멤버들(진짜 팀 멤버인지는 알 수 없습니다 관리자는 아니었기 때문에)이 하는말은
그 300,000ETH는 단지 failsafe limit일 뿐이다, 만약 ICO과정에서 어떠한 오류가 생기더라도 그이상 모금되지는 않게 하려는것이고, 실제 모금액은 비공개지만 그보다는 적을것이다 라고 했으며 제가 기존에 알고 있던 내용도 이와같았죠.

The Terms&Condition said that Hard ceiling is 300,000ETH and the ICO will be finished if it hits this amount of ETH.
But, in Reddit, some Status members told me that 300,000ETH is just a failsafe limit, just in case if there is any error during ICO, the fundraising amount will not exceed it. That means, the final ceiling will be less than 300,000ETH but it's unknown(This is exactly what I knew, which is different from the Terms&Condition)

문제는 이용약관에는 30만 이더가 단지 오류가 났을때의 보험으로 failsafe limit일 뿐이라는 얘기라든지 그와 비슷한 언급이 없다는 겁니다. 
The problem is, in Terms and condition, there is no mention that 300,000ETH is just a failsafe limit and the actual amount will be less than that.

그리고 지금 ICO페이지에는 Final Ceiling이 300,000ETH라는 문구가 등장했습니다. 처음엔 없었는데 오늘아침 보니 생겼군요. 
And now if you check the ICO website, there is "Final Ceiling: 300,000ETH" - which was not there when ICO start, but it was added a few hours later.

Status 커뮤니티를 쭉 지켜봐온 결과, Final Ceiling은 비공개여야 했습니다. 
Initial Ceiling만 공개이고, 이후 Fianl Ceiling까지는 다이나믹실링을 적용하여 여러개의 비공개 캡들이 있을거라는 얘기가 이전부터 공식적으로 있어왔습니다.

그런데 막상 ICO할때가 되니 30만 이더로 명시된 부분은 유저들이 충분히 헷갈릴 수 있게 만드는 부분입니다.

그리고 이에 대한 정확한 설명은 이루어지지 않았고요. 

I've checked Status official annouced so far, and according to that, Final Ceiling should be unknown.
Officially, only Initial ceiling is known, and Dynamic Ceiling is unknown as well as the final ceiling.

But as ICO beggins, suddenly final celing becames 'known' value, and there was no explannatioin as far as I checked.

또한 Whitelist account에 대한 설명도 부족했습니다.
이번 Status ICO에서 가스비는 최대 50Gwei로, 이보다 더 많은 가스비를 설정하면 전송이 되지 않게끔 되어있습니다.

그런데 가스비 50Gwei를 넘는 전송자들이 있었죠!

바로 사전 할당된 Whitelist account들입니다. 사람들이 잘 모르는 상태에서 50Gwei를 초과하는 가스비 사용자들이 등장하면, whitelist가 아닌데 잘 모르는 사람들은 덩달아서 가스비를 높게 정해 전송할 것이고 그들은 피해를 볼 수밖에 없겠죠.

Also, there was not enough explannation about Whitelist account.
Normally we can't pay more than 50Gwei for gas fee in this ICO, but Whitelist accounts can pay way more than that.

The problem is that, many people didn't know about this, so they also tried to pay large amount of gas fee which will make there transaction fail, because normal users are not supposed to pay more than 50Gwei.

모금하는 바로 그날, 이용약관이 수정되었다는 사실을 아시나요?
처음에 약관에서 SNT의 전체 개수는 3,000,000,000개로 써져 있었으나, 30억개는 이번 펀드레이징으로 발행되는 수량으로 전체의 41%에 해당하고, 전체 SNT의 최대량은 7,317,073,171개여야 하죠.

Did you know that on the day of fundraising, the Terms of Contribution(which you can see when you enter the official ICO website) have been amended?
At first, the total number of SNTs in the Terms was written as 3,000,000,000, but 3 billion is the number issued by 'this' fund raising and corresponds to 41% of the total, and the maximum amount of total SNT should be 7,317,073,171.

제가 레딧에 이것을 지적하는 글을 올리자 이용약관이 바로 수정되긴 했는데,
제가 올린 글은 삭제되었더군요.
이부분은 좀 이해할수가 없었습니다.

I posted this on the Reddit on the day of the ICO.
The terms and condition was modified right away, but my posting was deleted for some reason.
I couldn't understand this.

이용약관을 급히 작성해서 생긴 실수라고밖에는 생각이 되지 않았습니다. 

I guess this happened because they rushed to write the Terms(or didn't check it twice)

ICO라는게 몇백억, 또는 그 이상이 모금되는 이벤트인데 이렇게 당일 수정을 할 정도로 준비가 부족하면 유저들이 신뢰를 하기가 어렵지 않나 생각됩니다.
ICO is an event that raises several million or more. It's a huge event. I think that it is difficult for users to trust if there is not enough preparation to make such a modification on the day.

또한, ICO사이트 역시 처음에는 Final ceiling을 명시하지 않고 있다가 현재는 명시하고 있는데
ICO가 시작하기 전에 명시를 했어야지, 이미 시작한지 몇시간이 지난 뒤에 이렇게 알려주는것은 문제의 소지가 있습니다.

 Also, the ICO site did not specify Final Ceiling at first,
It must be stated before the ICO starts, or it may be problematic to let it know after a few hours that it has already started.


30만 이더는 정말 큰 액수입니다. 하지만 모금액수가 많다고 비난하고 싶진 않습니다. 그건 개발자들의 자유지요.
그러나 모금에 참여하는 사람들은 명확하게 모금이 어떤식으로 이루어지는지 알 권리가 있습니다. 

The 300,000ETH is a huge amount, but it's up to Status team, so I don't want to blame it.
However, those who participate in the funding have a right to know how the fund raises.


모금 총액이 비공개면 확실히 비공개라고 얘길 하든지, 다이나믹 실링만 비공개이고 최종 모금액은 30만이더라면 확실하게 그렇게 알려주어야 유저들이 혼선 없이 참여할 수 있을 겁니다.

해외에서는 30만이더는 너무 과도하다고 욕심이라고 욕하는 글들도 많은데, 저는 그것보다 문제인것은 명확한 소통과 준비의 부족이라고 생각합니다.

어쨌거나 다이나믹 실링은 새로운 시도였으므로 성공적으로 끝나길 바라며, 정말 많은 사람들이 Status를 사용하게 되는 날이 오길 바랍니다. 그 얘기는 이더리움이 성공했다는 얘기가 되겠죠.

The team should have made everything clear on ICO, so that users don't get confused.
Anyways, dynamic sealing was a new attempt and I hope it ends successfully.
Also I hope that a lot of people use Status. That would mean the success of Ethereum.
