Echinacea Flower Tea

I just recognised that these flowers in the gardens were echinacea, so i went down to collect some to make some tea :)

I took off the leaves and flower petals and rinsed them.

I boiled some water, then let it cool for a second before pouring over the echinacea petals.

I decided to add a few more items that I had previously foraged from my garden including roses and violets.

I steeped the tea for 15 minutes

VOILA flower tea :) 
Echinacea is good for the immune system,  helps keep colds and viruses away , works as an anti inflammatory, it has even been suggested it can  improve skin hydration and reduce wrinkles.
This flower is also known to help with mental health problems by reducing anxiety and social phobias along with other health benefits!

VIOLETS 
The alkaloids  in violets have abvasodilating effect causing blood vessels to relax and allowing blood to flow easier, helping to lower blood pressure. They also contain salicylic acid which can act as painkillers and anti- inflammatories which gives comfort to those with arthritis or other joint pains. Violets contain high amounts of beta-carotene and ascorbic acid. A 140 ml serving of violet leaves provides as much vitamin C as 4 oranges.


ROSES 
Roses provide the  Vitamins A,B,C,E and K. They can help prevent and reduce wrinkles and relieve menstrual pain along with many other health benefits.

Professional herbal-botanical question: since not all echinacea flowers are medicinal, how do you know which ones are??  Curious.  I find them very hard to distinguish from the ornamental ones.  

Were you able to save any of the roots, since that's where the really powerful medicine is concentrated??  I'd give my back teeth for some echinacea roots in rainy monsoon season!! 

I love flower teas.  How did this one TASTE?

Wow I bet this tea was so fragrant and good! I love roses in tea, they smell and taste divine! I didn't know they could alleviate menstrual pain, that is good to know! Thanks for sharing!
