O sentimento de pertencimento é algo que os jogos online conseguem criar com eficiência e é um dos principais fatores que fazem os jogadores gastarem dinheiro, por isso é tão importante que o jogo incentive e crie maneiras de gerar essa identidade social, possibilitando que os jogadores comprem itens ou cosméticos para demonstrarem que são membros da comunidade do jogo. Na Web 3.0 isso ainda não se faz tão presente, mas já está claro que esse **modelo de negócios** é extremamente efetivo pois realmente há jogadores que desejam se engajar e estão dispostos à gastar dinheiro para se aderir nessa identidade social.

Um ótimo exemplo de jogo que adota esse modelo de negócio com maestria é o **League of Legends** que tem como seu principal gerador de receita a venda de **Skins** para os seus personagens. As skins não alteram em nada mecanicamente, mas o jogador se sente satisfeito ao iniciar uma partida e poder mostrar que possui aquela Skin Lendária super cara do seu Champion favorito.

Esse tipo de incentivo é o mais sustentável para o crescimento de um jogo pois diferente do modelo de negócios adotado atualmente pela maioria dos jogos **Play 2 Earn** não depende de um **incentivo de retorno financeiro** e sim da satisfação pessoal de pertencimento e status.

**[Splinterlands](https://splinterlands.com?ref=underlock)** está dando seus pequenos passos nesta direção desde o seu lançamento. Existem as **Skins** de cartas já faz muito tempo, mas são pouco vistas e provavelmente não afetam em quase nada a receita do projeto. Atualmente eles possuem outras prioridades, isso é um fato, entretanto é possível trabalhar neste ponto para tornar suas skins cada vez mais chamativas de forma que incentive a compra por parte dos jogadores.

Imagine poder mintar um NFT que seja o **ícone da sua guilda** e poder adicioná-lo nas suas cartas. Conforme cada vez mais ações sejam implementadas para tornar as guilds mais importantes, maior será a vontade dos jogadores de demonstrarem para todos que fazem parte de uma guild forte. Esse seria um incentivo em tanto para fazer os jogadores gastarem dinheiro com skins com o único intuído de demonstrar status e pertencimento de comunidade.

Uma outra adição sutil que foi feita recentemente mas que eu considero extremamente importante foi a possibilidade de **adicionar o ícone Runi no perfil do jogador**. Além de comprar o NFT e poder utilizá-lo em batalha, agora o jogador também poderá mostrar para todos que possui um Runi estampando-o no rosto do seu perfil. Este é um incentivo e tanto para se adquirir um NFT, afinal, mostrar que você tem um NFT foda é a maior parte da diversão!

Pode parecer estranho por estarmos tão imersos no mundo das criptomoedas onde tudo envolve economia e finanças, mas o sentimento de **escassez** pode  gerar enormes efeitos nos jogadores que desejarão comprar um NFT que está sendo vendido por tempo limitado e que sirva como uma forma de demonstrar seu status e gerar a sensação de pertencimento à comunidade. Você pode não gostar mas é inegável que os **Bored Apes** criaram uma forte comunidade e que está disposta à gastar com seus NFTs. Trabalhar envolta desta **identidade social e a escassez** são caminhos que devem ser tomados pelo Splinterlands para aumentar as fontes de receita do projeto, possibilitando que ele continue conseguindo se desenvolver para alcançar ainda mais jogadores.

The feeling of belonging is something that online games are able to create efficiently and is one of the main factors that make players spend money, which is why it is so important that the game encourages and creates ways to generate this social identity, enabling players to buy items or cosmetics to demonstrate that they are members of the game's community. In Web 3.0 this is still not so present, but it is already clear that this **business model** is extremely effective because there are players who really want to engage and are willing to spend money to join this social identity.

A great example of a game that masterfully adopts this business model is **League of Legends**, which has as its main revenue generator the sale of **Skins** for its characters. The skins do not change anything mechanically, but the player feels satisfied when starting a match and being able to show that he has that super expensive Legendary Skin of his favorite Champion.

This type of incentive is the most sustainable for the growth of a game because unlike the business model currently adopted by most **Play 2 Earn** games, it does not depend on a **financial return incentive**, but on personal satisfaction of belonging and status.

**[Splinterlands](https://splinterlands.com?ref=underlock)** has been taking its small steps in this direction since its launch. Card **Skins** have been around for a long time, but they are little seen and probably do not affect the project's income at all. Currently they have other priorities, that's a fact, however it is possible to work on this point to make their skins more and more attractive in a way that encourages the purchase by the players.

Imagine being able to mint an NFT that is **your guild icon** and be able to add it to your cards. As more and more actions are implemented to make guilds more important, players will be more willing to demonstrate to everyone that they are part of a strong guild. This would be a huge incentive to make players spend money on skins with the sole aim of demonstrating status and belonging to the community.

Another subtle addition that was made recently but which I consider extremely important was the ability to **add the Runi icon to the player profile**. In addition to buying the NFT and being able to use it in battle, now the player will also be able to show everyone that he has a Runi by stamping it on his profile face. This is quite an incentive to acquire an NFT, after all, showing that you have a badass NFT is most of the fun!

It may seem strange because we are so immersed in the world of cryptocurrencies where everything involves economics and finance, but the feeling of **scarcity** can have huge effects on players who will want to buy an NFT that is being sold for a limited time and that serves as a way of demonstrating their status and generating a sense of belonging to the community. You may not like it, but it is undeniable that the **Bored Apes** have created a strong community that is willing to spend money on their NFTs. Working around this **social identity and scarcity** are paths that Splinterlands must take to increase the project's sources of income, allowing it to continue to develop and reach even more players.
