Lately, I've been scared to watch a series on Netflix, as the streaming platform has made it a point to cancel the shoots of those that don't meet playback expectations. While not every story told on screen can hook everyone, stopping a story abruptly is also not an action accepted by the fanatic public.
I don't like unfinished stories, nor with 'open' endings, which don't stimulate you at all, and for these reasons, I prefer to watch miniseries with a single season and a conclusive, but satisfying ending, or movies, where I know that the whole story is already compressed into a feature film. It's disappointing to watch a series that hooks you and then suddenly find out that there will be no more seasons. Interesting stories that were left unfinished with their climax, in the huge sea of Netflix content. In this post, I want to share those series on the streaming platform that I liked, but that was cruelly canceled.

Últimamente, me da mucho miedo ver una serie por Netflix, puesto que la plataforma de streaming se han empeñado en cancelar los rodajes de aquellas que no cumplen con las expectativas de reproducción. Si bien, no todas las historias contadas en pantalla pueden enganchar a todo el mundo, detener una historia de manera abrupta tampoco es una acción aceptada por el público fanático.
No me gustan las historias inconclusas, tampoco con finales ‘abiertos’, que no te estimulan nada, y por estas razones, prefiero ver miniseries con una sola temporada y un final concluyente, pero satisfactorio, o películas, donde sé que ya toda la historia está comprimida en un largometraje. Es decepcionante ver una serie que te engancha y que de repente te enteras de que ya no van a existir más temporadas. Historias interesantes que quedaron sin concluir con su clímax, en el enorme mar de contenido de Netflix. En esta publicación, quiero compartir aquellas series de la plataforma de streaming que me gustaron, pero que fueron cruelmente canceladas.

<center><h2>1.- Marianne</h2></center>
This French horror series, released on September 13, 2019 and directed by Samuel Bodin, along with Quoc Dang Tran, has left a void that no one else will be able to fill. It was created by Bodin himself, and in it he tells us about the life of a famous writer of horror novels; who owes her success to one of her best sagas: 'Marianne', but a sinister evil presence begins to harass her by interrupting her dreams, then she realizes that everything has to do with the antagonist character of her novels, which is a centuries-old witch.
I know this series was not very well known, and therefore did not get enough plays to reopen with a new season, however, it is a pretty intriguing and good series, with a creepy story and good 'jumpscare'. Its cancellation provoked the anger of many fans, including the famous American horror writer 'Stephen King'.

Esta serie de terror francesa, estrenada el 13 de septiembre del 2019 y dirigida por Samuel Bodin, junto con Quoc Dang Tran, ha dejado un vacío que nadie más podrá llenar. Fue creada por el mismo Bodin, y en ella nos habla de la vida de una famosa escritora de novelas de terror; la cual debe su éxito a una de sus mejores sagas: ‘Marianne’, pero una siniestra presencia maligna comienza a acosarla interrumpiendo sus sueños, luego se da cuenta de que todo tiene que ver con el personaje antagonista de sus novelas, la cual es una bruja de siglos de edad.
Sé que esta serie no era muy conocida, y por ende no tuvo las suficientes reproducciones como para reaperturarla con una nueva temporada, sin embargo, es una serie bastante intrigante y buena, con una historia espeluznante y buenos ‘jumpscare’. Su cancelación provocó la ira de muchos fans, incluyendo al famoso escritor de terror estadounidense ‘Stephen King’.

<center><h2>2.- The Midnight Gospel</h2></center>
Of all the animated series that are on Netflix, and that are not as good as this one I am going to present, the cancellation of this work was a real shame, since I did not understand how it was possible that they simply ended its production. While, the surreal and complex subject matter of the series was not for a common audience, I feel that its popularity was already transcending strongly. The Midnight Gospel deserved a new season, at least one that made us feel that the story had come to an end.
The series premiered on April 20 and was created by Duncan Trussell and Pendleton Ward. The story is a mix of fantasy, science fiction and philosophy, and is about a space traveler who transits to different worlds through simulations, searching for answers to questions left by existentialism, the origin of life and death. This series can blow your mind with so much complex and philosophical content, but I liked it because of how strange it was and the themes it touched on in each episode. Unfortunately, the adventures of the protagonist, like all the ones on this list, were buried.

<center><h2>2.- The Midnight Gospel</h2></center>
De todas las series animadas que hay en Netflix, y que no son tan buenas como esta que les voy a presentar, La cancelación de esta obra fue una verdadera pena, ya que no comprendía como era posible que simplemente terminaran su producción. Si bien, la temática surrealista y compleja de la serie no era para un público común, siento que su popularidad ya estaba trascendiendo fuertemente. The Midnight Gospel merecía una nueva temporada, al menos una que nos hiciera sentir que la historia había llegado a su fin.
La serie fue estrenada el 20 de abril y fue creada por Duncan Trussell y Pendleton Ward. La historia es una mezcla de fantasía, ciencia ficción y filosofía, y trata sobre un viajero espacial que transita a diferentes mundos a través de simulaciones, buscando respuestas a preguntas dejadas por el existencialismo, el origen de la vida y la muerte. Esta serie puede volarte la cabeza con tanto contenido complejo y filosófico, pero me gustó por lo extraña que era y los temas que tocaba en cada episodio. Lastimosamente, las aventuras del protagonista, como todas las de esta lista, quedaron sepultadas.

<center><h2>3.- Q-Force</h2></center>
Now we follow up with a very funny, LGBTQ-themed animated comedy series loaded with very good black humor. "Q-Force" premiered on Netflix on September 2, 2021. Created by Gabe Liedman, it is the story of a handsome secret government agent who is chosen as the best in the academy, but when he comes out as openly gay to his bosses and co-workers, he is discriminated against and put aside. With no airs and graces about giving up, the boy creates his own team of LGBTQ spies and together they embark on dangerous adventures to save the world.
I found the entire season of the series very funny, getting a lot of laughs out of me. What I liked most, is that I didn't feel it as a forced "progressive" or "anti-progressive" series, as they exposed a reality in a satirical way, the fight against discrimination and the rights of LGBTQ people.
What was most enjoyable is how they made fun of stereotypes, emphasizing inclusion and focusing on the rainbow world. Its humor is quite entertaining and you really have a good time with each chapter, but in this era in which we live, black humor is the eye of strong criticism, the same that rushed against the series causing its cancellation and no airs of reopening for a new season. It's a real shame, but we already know that with Netflix we can expect anything.

<center><h2>3.- Q-Force</h2></center>
Ahora seguimos con una serie animada de comedia muy divertida, con temática LGBTQ y cargada de muy buen humor negro. “Q-Force”, fue estrenada en Netflix el 2 de septiembre de 2021. Creada por Gabe Liedman, trata la historia de un apuesto agente secreto del gobierno que es elegido como el mejor de la academia, pero cuando se declara abiertamente gay ante sus jefes y compañeros de trabajo, es discriminado y colocado a un lado. Sin aires de rendirse, el chico crea su propio equipo de espías LGBTQ y juntos se embarcan en peligrosas aventuras para salvar el mundo.
Toda la temporada de la serie me pareció muy divertida, sacándome muchas carcajadas. Lo que más me gustó, es que no la sentí como una serie forzada “progresista” ni “anti-progresista”, pues exponían una realidad de manera satírica, la lucha contra la discriminación y los derechos de la gente LGBTQ.
Lo que más gustó es como se burlaban de los estereotipos, haciendo énfasis a la inclusión y enfocándose en el mundo arcoíris. Su humor es bastante entretenido y de verdad que se pasa un muy buen rato con cada capítulo, pero en esta época en que vivimos, el humor negro es ojo de fuertes críticas, las mismas que se abalanzaron contra la serie provocando su cancelación y sin aires de reapertura para una nueva temporada. Es una verdadera lástima, pero ya sabemos que con Netflix podemos esperar lo que sea.

<center><h2>4.- The Midnight Club</h2></center>
I must confess that the cancellation of this series did not affect me that much, however, I had finished the whole first season and I wanted to know what was going to happen at the end of all that mystery (thank you, Netflix). This drama, mystery and horror series was released on October 7, 2022, created by Mike Flanagan; one of the best directors Netflix had.
Based on the novel of the same name by Christopher Pike, Flanagan brings us the story of a girl with cancer named 'Ilionka', who enters a boarding house for terminally ill young people. There, she discovers that the other patients in the place meet at midnight to tell scary stories.
This series is loaded with a strong drama with touching feelings, the horror part is often left aside as an atmosphere that surrounds the main characters, it also has a strong teaching about friendship, death and trying to generate bonds while waiting for the final moment.
Flanagan planned to do more seasons, as Pike's works gave for a lot of material, but unfortunately the first season did not get the expected playback numbers, so the series was plunged into cancellation.

Debo confesar que la cancelación de esta serie no me afectó tanto, sin embargo, me había terminado toda la primera temporada y quería saber que iba a pasar al final de todo ese misterio (gracias, Netflix). Esta serie de drama, misterio y terror fue estrenada el 7 de octubre de 2022, creada por Mike Flanagan; uno de los mejores directores que tenía Netflix.
Basándose en la novela homónima de Christopher Pike, Flanagan nos trae la historia de una chica con cáncer llamada ‘Ilionka’, que ingresa a una pensión de jóvenes con enfermedades terminales. Allí, descubre que los demás pacientes del lugar se reúnen a medianoche para contar historias de miedo.
Esta serie está cargada de un fuerte drama con sentimientos conmovedores, la parte del terror muchas veces queda a un lado como una atmosfera que rodea a los personajes principales, también tiene una fuerte enseñanza sobre la amistad, la muerte y el de tratar de generar vínculos mientras se espera el momento final.
Flanagan pensaba hacer más temporadas, ya que las obras de Pike daban para mucho material, pero desafortunadamente la primera temporada no consiguió los números de reproducción esperados, por lo que la serie quedó hundida en la cancelación.

And we end with my most recent pain, one of the few series I've enjoyed from the streaming platform so far. "1899" was going to be the new Netflix sensation, but its cancellation, after its first season, left us all with our mouths open. It was released November 17, 2022, with a strong charge of the drama, mystery and science fiction genre. It was created by Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese (creators of 'Dark'), with an interesting story centered on a ship full of European immigrants to the United States.
The series is loaded with good puzzles, a mystery that leaves you immersed in that ship with each chapter and interesting characters with internal conflicts. It had all the elements to be the new sensation, like "Dark" was at the time, but despite the popularity it reached, it did not meet the expectations of the streaming platform.

Y terminamos con mi dolor más reciente, una de las pocas series que he disfrutado de la plataforma de streaming hasta ahora. “1899” iba a ser la nueva sensación de Netflix, pero su cancelación, después de su primera temporada, nos dejó con las bocas abiertas a todos. Fue estrenada 17 de noviembre de 2022, con una fuerte carga del género dramático, misterio y ciencia ficción. Fue creada por Baran bo Odar y Jantje Friese (creadores de ‘Dark’), con una historia interesante centrada en un barco lleno de inmigrantes europeos hacia Estados Unidos.
La serie está cargada de buenos acertijos, un misterio que te deja sumido en ese barco con cada capítulo y personajes interesantes con conflictos internos. Tenía todos los elementos para ser la nueva sensación, como lo fue “Dark” en su momento, pero a pesar de la popularidad que llegó a tener, no cumplió con las expectativas de la plataforma de streaming.

No matter how popular and good a Netflix series is, they are all at risk of cancellation if they do not meet the expectations of the platform's executives. There are some that are not so good, but they have a wider audience, and thanks to this, they have managed to overcome the cancellation barrier. There are many people who hold out hope that Netflix will reopen several of their forgotten series, and others see it as impossible. I for one will only keep the miniseries and movies; at least these already have concluded stories.

No importa que tan popular y buena sea una serie de Netflix, todas están en riesgo de ser canceladas si no cumplen las expectativas de los ejecutivos de la plataforma. Hay algunas que no son tan buenas, pero tienen un público más amplio, y gracias a esto, han logrado superar la barrera de la cancelación. Hay mucha gente que guarda la esperanza de que Netflix reabra varias de sus series olvidadas, y otros lo ven imposible. Yo por mi parte solo me quedaré con las miniseries y las películas; al menos estas ya tienen historias concluidas.
