Había llegado el día. Todos nos reunimos en el salón principal de la mansión Reginald. Un gran festín fue servido esa noche, estuvimos preparados con ricas bebidas y festejos. Era una gran celebración, pues había llegado el momento que tanto habíamos esperado. Pamela por fin se embarazó, no pudimos estar más felices. Escuchamos gritos, aplausos y campanas. Los sirvientes se agitaban de un lado a otro con suma rapidez. Las mucamas corrían en los pasillos superiores y sus pasos tronaban como estampidas.

Pamela vestía esa noche de rojo, con incrustaciones brillantes sobre su atuendo y una corona de rosas artificiales, que brillaban con una luz escarlata sobre su cabello azabache. Sus ojos centelleaban de belleza, pero a la vez de agonía. Siempre nos atrajo esa dualidad; entre belleza y melancolía.

Bajó las escaleras con elegancia, parecía una reina dirigiéndose a su trono. Esperamos con locura a que llegara este día, pues el libro lo predijo, y sus palabras eran tan certeras como confusas, una rara combinación. 

Antes de pertenecer a esta asociación, era solo un chico elegante, con los ojos puestos en una sola cosa: la grandeza. Recibí la mejor educación en los mejores institutos. Me codeaba con gente pudiente; la mejor influencia política. Pero todos esos pueriles e insatisfactorios detalles, no llenaban el vacío que había en mis entrañas. Era un apetito que iba más allá de mis temores y la vida que llevaba. 

Mi hambre provenía de mi adoración; todo lo que me inculcaron. En ella pude apreciar un arte, un consuelo, una admiración. Pues mis deseos se cumplirían a partir de ese momento. Mientras estaba en la universidad, escuché los rumores de una elegida: Pamela. Ella todavía era una flor joven que apenas surgía, sin embargo, nuestro señor la había elegido.

Escuché sobre una gran reunión en la mansión de los Reginald; la más importante de nuestra historia. Se dice que decidían sobre el destino de Pamela, me importó muy poco su procedencia, solo quería cumplir mis sueños finalmente y dejar todas las nimiedades atrás. 

Durante mis últimos semestres, mi abuelo falleció, dejándome como heredero universal de toda su fortuna y sus bienes. Con esto venía aunado mi aprobación como miembro de la asociación. Fue el día más excitante de mi vida. Al fin conocería todo lo que soñaba por dentro. 

La mansión de los Reginald, siempre ha sido el punto de reunión de “La señal escarlata”. Nuestras creencias y dogmas se expandían dentro de este lugar. Las mesas siempre estaban cubiertas con manteles rojos, al igual que con adornos carmesí. Las cortinas y los muebles también eran de color rojo, incluso las alfombras y los trajes de los sirvientes. 

Fue en esta última reunión en que conocí a Pamela, según la celebración, por fin había quedado embarazada, ¡todos nuestros sueños y esperanzas por fin se cumplirían! Esa noche estaba hermosa. Fue acompañada por dos sirvientas a posarse frente al gran cuadro de la sala. En él estaba retratado nuestro señor, portando sus magníficos cuernos rodeado de vírgenes que lo admiraban. 

Todos gritábamos ovacionando la llegada, mientras que Pamela colocaba su cara de sufrida a cada momento. Estábamos ansiosos porque llegara el mandato, y más que todo, porque único sueño por fin se hiciese realidad.

The day had arrived. We all gathered in the main hall of the Reginald mansion. A great feast was served that night, we were prepared with rich drinks and feasts. It was a great celebration, for the moment we had waited so long for had arrived. Pamela finally got pregnant, we could not have been happier. We heard shouts, applause and bells. The servants were moving from one side to the other with great speed. The maids ran in the upper corridors and their footsteps thundered like stampedes.

Pamela was dressed that night in red, with glittering inlays upon her attire and a wreath of artificial roses, which shone with a scarlet light upon her jet hair. Her eyes sparkled with beauty, but at the same time with agony. We were always attracted to that duality; between beauty and melancholy.

She descended the stairs gracefully, looking like a queen on her way to her throne. We waited madly for this day to come, for the book foretold it, and her words were as accurate as they were confusing, a rare combination. 

Before I belonged to this association, I was just an elegant boy, with my eyes set on only one thing: greatness. I received the best education in the best institutes. I hobnobbed with wealthy people; the best political influence. But all those puerile and unsatisfactory details did not fill the emptiness in my gut. It was an appetite that went beyond my fears and the life I led. 

My hunger came from my adoration; everything that was instilled in me. In it I could appreciate an art, a comfort, an admiration. For my desires would be fulfilled from that moment on. While in college, I heard rumors of a chosen one: Pamela. She was still a young flower just emerging, yet our lord had chosen her.

I heard about a big meeting at the Reginald mansion; the most important in our history. It is said that they were deciding about Pamela's destiny, I cared very little about where she came from, I just wanted to fulfill my dreams finally and leave all the trifles behind. 

During my last semesters, my grandfather passed away, leaving me as the universal heir to his entire fortune and estate. With this came my approval as a member of the association. It was the most exciting day of my life. At last I would know everything I dreamed of inside. 

The Reginald mansion has always been the meeting point of "The Scarlet Signal". Our beliefs and dogmas expanded inside this place. The tables were always covered with red tablecloths, as well as crimson decorations. The curtains and furniture were also red, even the carpets and the servants' robes. 

It was at this last gathering that I met Pamela, according to the celebration, she had finally become pregnant, all our dreams and hopes would finally be fulfilled! That night she was beautiful. She was accompanied by two maids to pose in front of the large painting in the living room. In it was portrayed our lord, bearing his magnificent horns surrounded by admiring virgins. 

We all shouted and cheered the arrival, while Pamela put on her long-suffering face at every moment. We were anxious for the mandate to arrive, and most of all, for our only dream to finally come true.
