I love eating cake, but I can't bake. I love it hot and fresh. If all cryptocurrencies were slices of a cake, I'll always go for the Hive branded cut. Good enough I won't have to pay cash for it as I can do any leisure activity to cover the cost.

The above image was captured (edited) from Binance's [tweet](https://twitter.com/binance/status/1359133862824149001) to celebrate #NationalPizzaDay and while I mused on the image, I discovered that Hive  logo missed and I've been grabbing several mouthful bites of Hive (that's if it were pizza). I saved the image for the purpose of this post and while I mused on it, I remember the top advise I ever got as ventured into investing in crypto **"EARN your First Cryptocurrency DON'T BUY It"**.

I credit the quote to @Theyecallmedan in a [tweet reply](https://twitter.com/TheycallmeDan_/status/1261729009408212992?s=20) he made some time in year 2020 in response to Binance's [call](https://twitter.com/binance/status/1261707019729293312?s=20) for an advice for anyone just venturing into crypto. I've been sharing that with as many around who care to inform me of their intention to invest in cryptocurrency. The reality of that advice was evident the moment I was refreshing a BTC market chart within seconds and witnessed a sudden price dip of -40%. I didn't actually have a BTC holding but I had a jerk in shock.

Looking back at my crypto journey, I remember, no dime (cash, fiat) was invested safe my time and data to share my thoughts, and that about myself on Hive and got "weighted likes" in response that took me to the bank after 7 days. That was alien to me- earning money from socialmedia blogging. In a simple thought, I had this to say about my first experience earning cryptocurrency:

Sincerely, I'll choose Hive again and again if I had to restart my crypto investment journey because I won't pay for the first bite with FIAT, rather, I would pay with my skills (gaming, writing, review) and my contents. It won't be wrong to even say that Hive pays me to earn it. That sounds weird maybe, but there could be some senses from their if observed carefully.


Earning crypto rather than buying comes with less risk. You have less heartaches to battle with, especially when you do a leisure activity like playing games, writing poems, stories, reporting an event, getting fit, watching a movie and reviewing it, doing a video podcast, going shopping , playing with your pet, learning photography and more. Today, we see that communities are growing on Hive even on the second layer and each adds more value to common defined human activities.
