'Just don't be a dick about it'. So true. I've yo-yoed in the past between weekend binges to sobriety for months. Now, I'm four months without touching a drop. Living in Dublin is tough. For us Irish, sobriety is almost treated like leprosy. Need a strong will here not to follow the crowd. Although the tide is turning. Thanks for sharing :)

I can tell you are writing from the heart and you have some very good insights! You are so right, if you can't take a brief pause from drinking it's likely you have a problem. And yes, friends don't care if you drink or not! Plus being around people who are drinking while you are sober, you may find out they aren't as nice or funny as they seemed when you were drinking too!
