**DApps, más que aplicaciones**
Quienes hacemos vida en el mundo de la Web3 y Blockchains, ya sabemos o por lo menos tenemos una noción de que es una DApp, pero siempre es importante seguir instruyéndonos y refrescar conocimientos. Dicho esto, las DApps no son más que aplicaciones, pero como su nombre lo indica, descentralizadas. Son programas informáticos que, al igual que las aplicaciones normales, están diseñados como una herramienta para realizar operaciones o funciones específicas, solo que las Dapps se desempeñan en redes descentralizadas de nodos, valiéndose de contratos inteligentes para ejecutar sus operaciones, lo que les permite proceder de manera autónoma sin la necesidad de un eje central.

**Características principales de las DApps**
- **Decentralización:** Las DApps no dependen de un servidor centralizado, ofreciendo una mayor autonomía y control para los usuarios de las mismas, así como menos vulnerabilidad o ataques cibernéticos.
- **Seguridad:** Al utilizar contratos inteligentes, las DApps pueden automatizar procesos sin riesgo de manipulación externa, lo que aumenta la seguridad y confianza en las transacciones.
- **Transparencia:** Todas las acciones y transacciones en una DApp son visibles para quien desee verlas en la Blockchain, lo que garantiza transparencia e integridad de los datos.
- **Recompensas o incentivos:** La mayoría de las DApps (por no decir todas) utilizan tokens criptográficos (criptomoneda) para incentivar a los usuarios a participar en la red, promocionarla y contribuir a su funcionamiento.

**DApps Populares y sus casos de uso**
1. **Uniswap:** Plataforma de intercambio descentralizado en la red de Ethereum que permite el intercambio de tokens ERC-20 sin necesidad de intermediarios mediante el uso de contratos inteligentes. Tiene su propio token denominado "UNI".
Uniswap ofrece diferentes casos de uso dependiendo de los intereses del usuario, siendo de los principales el brindar un método de pago alternativo fuera de la interferencia de las autoridades centrales e intermediarios, ayudando a su vez con la problemática de las costosas y usualmente lentas transferencias internacionales. Simultáneamente, introduce una nueva oportunidad para la producción de ingresos o la complementación a través del staking de liquidez de su token UNI.
2. **CryptoKitties:** Juego basado en Blockchain de la red Ethereum donde los usuarios pueden criar, comprar y vender gatitos virtuales únicos.
Cryptokitties vendría a ser uno de los casos de uso más conocidos dentro de este mundo, ya que en un momento determinado, CryptoKitties alcanzó un nivel de popularidad tan grande que llegó a dominar el tráfico de la red de Ethereum. Aunque actualmente el juego no es tan popular, usuarios siguen intercambiando sus activos dentro del mismo, beneficiándose de lo que aún tiene para ofrecer.
3. **Decentraland:** Decentraland es una plataforma de realidad virtual 3D (un metaverso para ser más exactos) bastante distintiva que consiste en crear y modificar parcelas de tierra. Sus usuarios se inmergen en un mundo comunitario en el que pueden jugar e interactuar mientras son los dueños de sus datos. La propiedad virtual son los NFT que se pueden comprar por medio de su token MANA.
Decentraland presume de tener como visión el aprovechar la tecnología blockchain para diversas aplicaciones comunitarias. Entre sus casos de uso encontramos el poder desarrollar aplicaciones, oportunidades de marketing, coleccionar NFTs, interactuar con personas alrededor del mundo de manera personalizada y, el caso de uso más destacado, la oportunidad económica característica de los juegos basados en blockchain.

**¿Todo son ventajas con las DApps?**
Aunque bien es cierto que las DApps ofrecen beneficios significativos en términos de seguridad, resistencia a ataques y confiabilidad, pueden presentar desafíos en cuanto a usabilidad, mantenimiento y rendimiento. Personalmente, pienso que para ver mejoría en los ultimos aspectos mencionados, hay que seguir apoyando el uso de las DApps para que sigan perfeccionándose, todo con el objetivo de que cada vez sean más fáciles de comprender y no consuman tantos recursos.

**Proyección a futuro de las DApps**
Las DApps son innovadoras, cada vez se vuelven más populares gracias a su naturaleza descentralizada y transparente, por eso, se espera que en el futuro, estas aplicaciones continúen revolucionando industrias como las finanzas, los juegos, la logística y más, ofreciendo soluciones incluso más efectivas y seguras para diferentes problemáticas. La evolución en la forma en que interactuamos con la tecnología ya está aquí, las DApps son gran parte de esto, por eso hay que aprender a usarlas y disfrutar de sus bondades.

**¿Conoces las Dapps de Hive?, ¡hay más de 20!**
No podía dejar de hablar de las DApps que se encuentra dentro del ecosistema de Hive, sé que muchos ya las conocen por ser Hive una de las Blockchains con uno de los ecosistemas más amplios lleno de Dapps para escoger y más si son parte del mismo (¿me leen desde su cuenta de Hive?). Las DApps en Hive abarcan una amplia variedad de usos, van desde redes sociales hasta juegos, finanzas y pare de contar. Algunas de las DApps destacadas en Hive son:
1. **PeakD:** Una de las frontends de Hive enfocada en el blogging que permite a los usuarios publicar contenido y participar en la comunidad.
2. **Splinterlands:** Es un juego de cartas coleccionables inmersivo que permite a los jugadores participar en un mundo de colección, intercambio y batalla de cartas.
3. **Ecency:**Esta plataforma permite a los usuarios publicar, votar y participar en diversas comunidades dentro del ecosistema de Hive. Ecency ofrece una experiencia amigable para los usuarios al ser una de las frontends para hacer blogging.
4. **D.buzz:** Plataforma con interfaz similar a X enfocada en el microblogging que ofrece a los usuarios la oportunidad de publicar contenido corto y recibir incentivos por eso.
5. **3speak:** Es la plataforma de videos predilecta en Hive, digamos que es el "Youtube" del ecosistema. 3speak permite a los usuarios compartir contenido en formato de video de forma segura.
6. **InLeo:** Es otra de las frontends de Hive, ofrece blogging y microblogging, destacándose por siempre buscar innovar, implementando características que mejoran la experiencia del usuario.
Estas DApps en Hive representan la diversidad y el potencial del ecosistema descentralizado de Hive, ofreciendo soluciones innovadoras en diferentes áreas, pero, aún no se vayan, aún falta mi DApp favorita...

**Liketu, una de las Dapps más destacadas en Hive**
¡Así es!, @Liketu es una de mis DApps favoritas dentro del ecosistema de Hive, su enfoque en el contenido fotográfico e interfaz amigable, la hacen destacar y diferenciarse de las otras DApps, puede resultar similar a Instagram, pero no hay que confundirnos, no son para nada iguales. Liketu Permite a los usuarios editar, compartir y descubrir fotos, mientras recompensa a los usuarios por contribuir con contenido de calidad, incentivando la participación activa en la plataforma.

**Dapps, more than applications**
Those of us who are involved in the world of Web3 and Blockchains, already know or at least have a notion of what a DApp is, but it's always important to keep educating ourselves and refreshing our knowledge. With that being said, DApps are nothing more than applications, but as their name suggests, decentralized. They are softwares that, like normal applications, are designed as a tool to perform specific operations or functions, only that Dapps perform in decentralized networks of nodes, making use of smart contracts to execute their operations, allowing them to proceed autonomously without the need of a central hub.

**Main characteristics of the DApps**
- Decentralization:** DApps do not depend on a centralized server, offering greater autonomy and control for their users, as well as less vulnerability or cyber-attacks.
- Security:** By using smart contracts, DApps can automate processes without the risk of external manipulation, which increases security and confidence in transactions.
- Transparency:** All actions and transactions in a DApp are visible to anyone who wants to see them on the Blockchain, ensuring transparency and data integrity.
- Rewards or incentives:** Most (if not all) DApps use cryptographic tokens (cryptocurrency) to incentivize users to participate in the network, promote it and contribute to it.

**Popular DApps and their use cases**
1. **Uniswap:** Decentralized exchange platform on the Ethereum network that enables the exchange of ERC-20 tokens without the need for intermediaries through the use of smart contracts. It has its own token called "UNI".
Uniswap offers different use cases depending on the user's interests, the main ones being to provide an alternative payment method outside the interference of central authorities and intermediaries, while also helping with the issue of costly and usually slow international transfers. Simultaneously, it introduces a new opportunity for revenue production or complementation through liquidity staking of their UNI token.
2. **CryptoKitties:** Blockchain-based game on the Ethereum network where users can breed, buy and sell unique virtual kitties.
Cryptokitties came to be one of the most well-known use cases within this world, as at one point CryptoKitties reached such a level of popularity that it came to dominate the Ethereum network traffic. Although the game is currently not as popular, users continue to trade their assets within it, benefiting from what it still has to offer.
**Decentraland:** Decentraland is a rather distinctive 3D virtual reality platform (a metaverse to be more precise) that consists of creating and modifying plots of land. users are immersed in a community world where they can play and interact while owning their data. The virtual property is NFTs that can be purchased via their MANA token.
Decentraland claims to have a vision of leveraging blockchain technology for various community applications. Among its use cases are application development, marketing opportunities, collecting NFTs, interacting with people around the world in a personalized way and the most prominent use case, the economic opportunity characteristic of blockchain-based gaming.

**Is it all advantages with DApps?**
While it's true that DApps offer significant benefits in terms of security, attack resistance and reliability, they can present challenges in terms of usability, maintenance and performance. Personally, I think that in order to see improvements in the last mentioned aspects, we must continue to support the use of DApps so that they continue to improve, all with the goal of making them easier to understand and less resource-consuming.

**Future projection of DApps**
DApps are innovative, they are becoming more and more popular thanks to their decentralized and transparent nature, therefore, it is expected that in the future, these applications will continue to revolutionize industries such as finance, gaming, logistics as well as others, offering even more effective and secure solutions to different problems. The evolution in the way we interact with technology is already here, and DApps are a big part of this, so we must learn to use them and enjoy their benefits.

**Do you know the Hive Dapps, there are more than 20 of them!**
I could not avoid talking about the DApps found within the Hive ecosystem, I know that many already know them because Hive is one of the Blockchains with one of the largest ecosystems full of Dapps to choose from and even more if they are part of it (are you reading me from your Hive account?). DApps on Hive span a wide variety of uses, ranging from social networking to gaming, finance and counting. Some of the DApps featured in Hive are:
1. **PeakD:** One of Hive's blogging-focused frontends that allows users to post content and participate in the community.
2. **Splinterlands:** An immersive collectible card game that allows players to participate in a world of card collection, trading and battle.
3. **Ecency:** This platform allows users to post, vote and participate in various communities within the Hive ecosystem. Ecency offers a user-friendly experience by being one of the frontends for blogging.
4. **D.buzz:** Platform with an X-like interface focused on microblogging that offers users the opportunity to publish short content and receive incentives for it.
5. **3speak:** It is the video platform of choice in Hive, let's say it's the "Youtube" of the ecosystem. 3speak allows users to securely share content in video format.
6. **InLeo:** Another of Hive's frontends, it offers blogging and microblogging, standing out for always seeking to innovate, implementing features that improve the user experience.
These DApps in Hive represent the diversity and potential of Hive's decentralized ecosystem, offering innovative solutions in different areas, but, don't go away yet, my favorite DApp is still missing...

**Liketu, one of the most outstanding DApps in Hive**
That's right!, @Liketu is one of my favorite DApps within the Hive ecosystem, its focus on photographic content and user friendly interface, make it stand out and differentiate from the other DApps, it can be similar to Instagram, but make no mistake, they are not at all the same. Liketu allows users to edit, share and discover photos, while rewarding users for submitting quality content, encouraging active participation on the platform.
