¡Un saludo caluroso para todas las mamis y papis que hacen vida en esta linda comunidad @motherhood! 💟

En esta etapa de mi maternidad he pasado por diversas catarsis internas de lo que implica el desarrollo de un hijo. Definitivamente en medio de todo ello habrán comentarios, consejos, una que otra crítica para bien o en forma negativa de lo cual la verdad prefiero no hacer caso, cada cabeza es un mundo y en la misma medida cada quien maneja la crianza de la manera que prefiera.

Aunque tengo esa convicción, me pareció relevante recalcar ciertos temas que son importantes para nuestra maternidad, ya que ha sido recurrente el hecho de que suelen comparar el desarrollo de algunos niños con el de otros.

Para comenzar sabemos que cada persona desde que se desarrolla y crece en el vientre materno tiene un ritmo definido, una forma en que todo ello se conforma según sea el caso, por esto es importante entender que todos los niños serán diferentes en sus procesos. 

Aunque existen estándares que nos indican que nuestros niños van de la mejor manera en su desarrollo físico o mental, como por ejemplo su peso y talla ideal para la edad, la forma en cómo desarrollan habilidades para el momento de hablar, comer, caminar, estudiar, aprender, entre otras…

Teniendo en cuenta que como madres hacemos todo lo que se requiera para la estimulación temprana de su desarrollo; con mi hija he tenido ciertos problemas desde el momento en que cumplió sus 6 meses y era el momento de darle sopas, papillas y todo lo demás.

Ella solía demorarse bastante con la comida en los cachetes, donde el proceso de deglutir estaba avanzando muy lentamente, pero poco a poco lo logró, en cambio he oído de casos donde es mucho más rápido el proceso.

Al momento de dar sus primeros pasos fue todo lo contrario, aunque se tardó, pues caminó a los 18 meses, no pasó por el proceso de gatear, en el momento en que estuvo lista sólo se levantó y comenzó a caminar.

Siempre en casa la acostumbré a hacer actividades en las que pudiera aprender los colores, algunos números, letras o vocales, cantábamos algunas canciones y siempre la mantenía activa en cuanto a aprender; también procuraba hacer algunos ejercicios mentales propuestos por su pediatra.

Aun así ella con 3 años de edad no ha aprendido a hablar de forma más clara, incluso puede entender todo lo que se le dice a la perfección, pero simplemente va a su ritmo. Hoy en día ha tenido avances bastante buenos en sus habilidades físicas y mentales gracias a su inicio en el jardín, incluso dice palabras que antes no conocía gracias a la interacción con otros niños.

A lo que voy contándoles todo esto es que es muy chévere poder aconsejar a alguna madre con un tema específico, pero sin recalcar o comparar esta actividad con la de otros niños, cada mamá tiene su lucha definida y se esfuerzan a diario por llevar a cabo lo necesario para esto.

Y aunque muchas veces nos veamos superados por la presión social, lo más importante es saber que a diario hacemos nuestros mejor esfuerzo por nuestros hijos, sabiendo que no hay ningún método para ser madre o padre solo nos queda seguir nuestro corazón, la ciencia y confiar.

Así que de la manera más jocosa posible quiero decir que:

*Si algún otro niño habla inglés y mi hija no..  **esta bien**.

*Si otro niño sabe nadar teniendo la misma edad que ella.. **esta bien**.

*Si otros niños de su edad ya saben hablar de manera fluida y ella no… **esta bien**.

*Si otro niño aprendió a leer y escribir antes que el tuyo… **esta bien**.

*Si conoces a un niño que ha superado fobias que tu hijo no ha logrado a pesar de que ambos reciben terapias… **esta bien**.

Y aunque la lista es laaaaarga…
No es necesario que el valor o importancia de nuestros niños se de simplemente por cómo evolucionan en el tiempo con respecto a otros niños, lo más importante es que crezcan bajo un ambiente sano, agradable y sobre todo donde se sientan amados y protegidos por nosotros.

Although I have that conviction, I thought it was relevant to emphasize certain issues that are important for our motherhood, since it has been recurrent the fact that they tend to compare the development of some children with that of others.

To begin with, we know that each person, from the moment he/she develops and grows in the mother's womb, has a defined rhythm, a way in which everything is shaped according to the case, therefore it is important to understand that all children will be different in their processes. 

Although there are standards that tell us that our children are going in the best way in their physical or mental development, such as their weight and ideal size for their age, the way they develop skills for speaking, eating, walking, studying, learning, among others...

Taking into account that as mothers we do everything that is required for the early stimulation of their development; with my daughter I have had certain problems from the moment she turned 6 months old and it was time to give her soups, porridges and everything else.

She used to take a long time with the food in her cheeks, where the swallowing process was advancing very slowly, but little by little she made it, on the other hand I have heard of cases where the process is much faster.

When she took her first steps it was the opposite, although it took her 18 months to walk, she did not go through the process of crawling, the moment she was ready she just got up and started walking.

At home I always used her to do activities in which she could learn colors, some numbers, letters or vowels, we sang some songs and always kept her active in terms of learning; she also tried to do some mental exercises proposed by her pediatrician.

Even so, at 3 years of age she has not learned to speak more clearly, she can even understand everything that is said to her perfectly, but she just goes at her own pace. Today she has made quite good progress in her physical and mental abilities thanks to her start in kindergarten, she even says words she didn't know before thanks to the interaction with other children.

What I am getting at by telling you all this is that it is very cool to be able to advise a mother on a specific topic, but without stressing or comparing this activity with that of other children, each mom has her own defined struggle and they strive daily to carry out what is necessary for this.

And although many times we are overcome by social pressure, the most important thing is to know that every day we do our best for our children, knowing that there is no method to be a mother or father, we can only follow our heart, science and trust.

So in the most jocular way possible I want to say that:

*If some other child speaks English and my daughter doesn't....  **it's okay**.

*If another child knows how to swim being the same age as her.... **it's okay**.

*If other children her age can already speak fluently and she can't... **it's okay**.

*If another child learned to read and write before yours... **it's okay**.

*If you know a child who has overcome phobias that your child hasn't despite the fact that you both receive therapy... **it's okay**.

And even though the list is laaaaong....
It is not necessary that the value or importance of our children is given simply by how they evolve over time with respect to other children, the most important thing is that they grow up under a healthy, pleasant environment and above all where they feel loved and protected by us.
