I never expected to make any money of Steemit. I was just happy to have found a free blogging platform with some censorship resistance (as I tend to offend some people every now and then). Potentially getting paid something was just an extra bonus, so I haven't really bothered to post about the platform itself before. That being said, even I started noticing something, something about the price of Steem... https://c401345.ssl.cf1.rackcdn.com/23b6fefb-6dba-48a6-9adc-a2b159a4caa6.jpg I know, I know, it's a "short-term" movement and "doesn't matter" and we "should not worry" about that. Well I'm no tech genius, but Steem's price seems like a pretty big success indicator to me, and lately it isn't doing too well... What gives? I honestly don't know because I really like this place. Like you, I'm not really here to earn money; if it happens, great. But what I really like about this platform is that your wallet and reputation give you influence over the community's content. The price of Steem will tend to go down, all else being equal. It is highly inflationary. If you hold long term you need to either * Power up and hold Steem power * Hold SBD The best is to do both, to hedge them against each other.

Don't worry. Just hold. The movement in the last few days has probably been mostly to Monero's moves over the same period. I assume a lot of people are freeing up everything they have to play with XMR.

If you put the current price drop into perspective with the value increase of Steem In June (1000 percent!) than it doesn't look so bad after all. It is a good opportunity to power up using this low price level.
