**Prelude**
A new week has started and welcome back to another new post on Adapting to Modern where I look at how I crossed over from playing in Wild Battles till today focusing and getting more cards on Modern Battles, sharing with the community the struggles, the strategies and things I do to move towards playing in Modern. And at the same time, wishing all Muslims in the community blessed Eid Mubarak. With the wrapping up of the sharing and review of the Soul Bound Reward cards from Rebellion set and due to Rebellion will become the main set that anchor the modern fray when a new card set release into the modern group, there is still a need to have a good base of Rebellion core set cards to do well in battles. So with this , I will embark on reviewing 2 cards per week from the Rebellion Core set to discuss if you should be considering getting some of the cards to adapt to modern gameplay when the new set comes and Chaos Legion phases out. So let's get on with it and look at the 2 cards that we will review today. 



**Rebellion Core Set Cards**


Similar to the previous post for this series, we will begin discussing card from the Rebellion Core Set. Using a similar method when I reviewed the Soul Bound reward cards, I will be discussing about the growth of the cards and will give a simple review to whether or not investing into them will level up your game play or not. And let's continue our review and progressing into water splinter by looking at 2 of the rare cards from the Rebellion core set. Summoners will be left all the way to the end of the whole series since by default we should gather as much of them as possible.

The first water splinter rare card that we will reviewing today will be Anasth Soothsayer. Personally I do think this card is really good and it has almost all the abilities to give your lineup some defensive capabilities and keep them clear of any crazy debuffs etc. With cleanse at level 1, tank heal at level 2 and look out at level 4. This alone already ticks most of the boxes as a superb utility card. Not only that, speed and health stats for this card is great and as it levels up further, it gains dispel and dodge. A superb ability beast that can really contain and control the lineup, doing all kind of voodoo like a witch doctor. To also note, this card is rather expensive for a rare card which tells us how good this card is and how much demand there is for this card. I do not have a copy yet but hope to at least get one at level 2.

*Pirate of Eight*

The next card we will look at will be Pirate of Eight. This card in terms of stat line looks very similar to that of Tide Biter, a Chaos Legion Epic reward card. But something I like about this card is its melee damage scaling which will also be able to make the blast effect bigger. Other stat wise are decent and I think with a very simple off tank kind of play, this card can hide behind Commander Slade and start bullying others with something strong protecting it. A little single dimension but I think still a very effective card. I do have Tide Biter so I hesitate getting hold of this card. However, with Chaos Legion rotating out of Modern, I better start gathering sufficient amount of this card so that I can have this card at my use during Little League. 

*Assessment*
2 rare cards and but 2 very different cards. One is an ultimate utility and control card that is loaded with abilities, while the other is a sheer brute force attacker that aims to let its attack roll backwards to opponent backline through blast. Anasth Soothsayer, effectively can control the game with its array of abilities, best for matches with complicated rulesets and even during Noxious Fumes. A very capable rare card that can be fielded when needed. Pirate of Eight is different, it thrives by dishing out damage and will be even more viable in Little League since many cards do not have high health. 

Rating wise for both the cards, I would say Anasth Soothsayer with all the loaded up abilities that is very essential for matchup is a gem to have in the lineup. While it might not be needed for every match, when called upon, will leave your team in good hands so for rating wise, I would give it a 4.7/5 based on its witch doctor like capabilities. For Pirate of Eight, it will deserve a rating of 3.8/5, I didn't give it a rating above 4 because of the limited dimension this card gives but when called upon, this card is strong and able to dish out real good value in terms of damage. Both cards to me are worthy investments and one should consider to add both to your collection to bolster both your attack and defence. 

**Wrap Up** 
I have started looking into the Rebellion core set cards that we need to start building up to prepare for the new set that will be coming in when Chaos Legion gets rotated out. I do hope that with the new set that will be launching soon, we can find back the vibrancy during the prime days where everyone was busy camping for cheap cards or scurrying through the rental market to get cheap rentals. Remember, if you are uncertain, there is training mode available for you to test these card out and try out how it can perform before purchasing or renting.
