It's being sold as giving the user control of their own identity. I feel it's a slippery slope. It'll eventually end up like smart phones. You can only install an app if you share your ID. You can only use a service if you share your ID. It'll enable the creation of blacklists of IDs for censorship and switching services on/off. We saw a prime example of this a few years ago with WikiLeaks, having their MasterCard and VISA cancelled when they started publishing US secrets. No legal reason given, no court of law, no justice. Oppressive regimes have always relied on ID systems as the lever of control of entire populations. Added to the fact that this project is being funded by the Rockefeller foundation, a banking dynasty not known for their altruistic past, it really smells fishy to me.
