Yesterday was the last time I used Googled something, and it's pretty random because my search was focused on the spelling and meaning of the word "helter-skelter." I wanted to use it to describe the way Princessbusayo ran the last time we went on an outing when she was chased by a lion, so searching that was just so I'd be sure the meaning aligned with what I had in mind; however, that isn't the search I want to dwell upon in this write-up, as the one I'd love to talk about also happened yesterday, and it was an eye-opener.

You see, I was a bit curious when I was going through the specifications and features of the generator I plan on purchasing, and when I came across it having a battery, I was like, if all these generators have batteries, then why don't they stop working once the fuel finishes? Aren't they supposed to absorb power like batteries on other devices and keep on running till the battery runs down? So that curiosity pushes me to find out what the batteries do on the generator, and I must say the knowledge I got from my curiosity was worth it, although nothing special, but new knowledge is always a good addition.




I understand these might be funny to some people, especially those who are knowledgeable about these topics and all that surrounds them. Since I didn't understand their function, I had to run down to Google to find out more, and there I was about to get a simple explanation that stated that the batteries in generators are not there to get the engine running but to start the generator, power the electric choke, and even run things such as the control panel, like oil shortage alerts and the like. 




So in a nutshell, I got to learn that fuel keeps the fuel running, and while it runs, the battery in the process tries to absorb some power that it can use for the next time you want to start your generator again. Basically, batteries in generators aren't built to supply the kind of power that keeps the generator running but just to kickstart it and help it control some of the control panel.

It was good to learn something new, as I've never for once thought about it in that way before, and this goes on to remind me of how we humans tend to make assumptions about things without truly understanding how they work. I must say that my curiosity was satisfied, making me understand that even though our world today depends more on machines, we don't seem to understand everything about them, so that's about it on my last Google search, from the funny scenario that prompted me into searching the word running helter-skelter to something more technical like the fuel-powered generator.



Google has been a helpful tool through the years, helping us get valuable information at the speed of light, information that would have taken hours to find in books and the like. Although nowadays artificial intelligence apps such as Gemini, ChatGPT, Meta, and the like are doing that in a more intriguing way, it doesn't take away the importance of Google and the impact it has had and is still having on lives. I call it the doorway to learning and getting enlightened.
