Muchas veces transcurrimos por diversas calles de Venezuela y desconocemos el porque ciertas calles , esquinas, urbanizaciones y parroquias, tienen los nombres que tienen. En estos días iba caminando y me pareció hermoso lo que mis ojos veían. En seguida quise sacar mi celular para capturar lo que veía, siempre me ha gustado la fotografia. Me parece que es la manera de tener el pasado en nuestro presente, una manera hermosa de llevar los recuerdos congelados en una foto y justamente, esos recuerdos nos hacen SER lo que SOMOS hoy. También la nostalgia, a veces, es hermosa.

These days I was walking and it seemed beautiful to me what my eyes saw. I immediately wanted to take out my cell phone to capture what I saw, I have always liked photography. It seems to me that it is the way to have the past in our present, a beautiful way to carry frozen memories in a photo and precisely, those memories make us BE what we ARE today. Also nostalgia, sometimes, is beautiful.

"Lo que ahora es El Silencio antes era un caserío llamado El Tartagal porque abundaban las matas de tártago. En el año 1658, se desató en El Tartagaluna una epidemia desconocida que azotó a toda Caracas. Murió tanta gente que las campanas de los templos dejaron de sonar porque no había quien las tocara. El Cabildo envió una comisión a El Tartagal, y esa comisión escribió en un acta lo que presenció: “Sólo se advierte silencio, un profundo silencio”. Y desde entonces el lugar se llamó así: El Silencio."

So many people died that the bells of the temples stopped to sound because there was no one to touch them. And since then the place was called like this: El Silence."

"La negra Hipólita, nodriza del Libertador Simón Bolívar, vivía  en El Tartagal. Su casa quedaba en La calle de la amargura. Aquel caserío, ahora convertido en El Silencio, era un antro de miseria y de dolor, pero la presencia de la negra Hipólita le daba esperanza a los abandonados. Esa casa donde vivió la negra Hipólita fue derribada en 1942 cuando Isaías Medina Angarita ordenó la demolición de todas las edificaciones para la reurbanización de El Silencio. Carlos Raúl Villanueva se esmeró en solucionar el problema de aquel barrio caótico. Se apoyó en el escultor Francisco Narváez y en el año 1945 se inauguró la reurbanización El Silencio: siete bloques, dos plazas: la plaza O´Leary en el centro de la zona y la plaza Miranda al este de la urbanización."
