LUNA ist hyperinflationiert, die Blockchain wurde angehalten, kann LUNA zurückkehren? Worst-Case wäre ein Crash von Tether USDT.

Die Ereignisse haben sich gestern beim Algo-Stablecoin UST und dem dazugehörigen Token Terra LUNA überschlagen. Dramatisch.

Die Überschuldung stieg auf mehrere Tausend Prozent. Death Spiral. LUNA ist hyperinflationiert.

12 Milliarden UST standen einem LUNA-MarketCap von nur 0.5 Milliarden gegenüber. Mittlerweile wurden aus den 0.5 Milliarden nur noch 0.006 Milliarden (6 Millionen). Ein Verlust von praktisch 100%.

Die Blockchain wurde sogar angehalten. UST ist auf $0.13 abgestürzt. Trotz BTC-Reserven.

Habe kurz darüber nachgedacht, ob man jetzt nicht günstig LUNA kaufen sollte, falls es sich wieder erholt.

Aber ehrlich gesagt, sieht es nicht danach aus, der Image- und Vertrauen-Schaden ist so groß, dass LUNA vermutlich so nicht mehr weitermachen kann.

Zumal gibt es auch eine große Konkurrenz an Stablecoins.

Tether und USDC. Beide Stablecoins versprechen ein Voll-Reserve-System, d.h. für jeden Tether oder USDC sollte es Assets im Wert von $1 geben.

Das klingt auf dem Papier gut, das Problem ist, dass sich diese Assets aber nicht so leicht überprüfen lassen (Stablecoins sind zu zentralisiert und es gibt keine externe Aufsicht wie bei Banken, die das Vorhandensein der Assets laufend kontrolliert) und in der Vergangenheit sind vor allem bei Tether immer wieder Zweifel aufgekommen, ob der Coin wirklich zu 100% gedeckt ist.

HBD hat sich bis jetzt ganz gut geschlagen, ist aber nur eine kleine Nische und könnte bei größerer Adoption ähnliche Probleme wie LUNA bekommen, da es Bestrebungen gibt, die Schuldengrenze weiter zu erhöhen. So wie bei Fiat auch.

Worst-Case für den Krypto-Markt, der sich gerade wieder leicht erholt, wäre jetzt ein Crash von Tether, denke aber, dass es jetzt nicht so wahrscheinlich ist.

Für HBD würde es nach derzeitiger Berechnung kritisch werden, wenn der HIVE-Kurs unter $0.21 fallen würde. Die relativ niedrige Verschuldung (circa 7% oder 16% je nachdem, ob man die HBD im Hive Fund/DHF dazurechnet) macht sich bezahlt. Die offiziell gemeldete Verschuldung ist niedriger, da die Blockchain einen 3-Tage-Durchschnittskurs von HIVE verwendet.

Dramatic events happened yesterday for the algo stablecoin UST and its token Terra LUNA.

The overleverage (debt ratio) of UST rose to several thousand percent yesterday causing the dreaded Death Spiral for the hyped stablecoin. LUNA hyperinflated.

12 billion UST was backed by a LUNA MarketCap of just 0.5 billion. Meanwhile, the 0.5 billion became only 0.006 billion (6 million). A loss of practically 100%.

The blockchain was even halted. UST crashed to $0.13. Despite its BTC partial reserves.

I briefly thought about buying LUNA cheap now in case it recovers.

But honestly, it doesn't look like that, the damage to its reputation and trust is so severe that LUNA probably can't continue any more.

Especially since there is also a big competition of stablecoins.

Tether and USDC. Both stablecoins promise a full-reserve system, meaning for every Tether or USDC there should be $1 worth of assets.

This sounds good on paper, but the problem is that these assets are not easily verifiable (stablecoins are too centralized in the first place and there is no external supervision like with banks that continuously checks the existence of the assets) and in the past, especially with Tether, doubts have always arisen whether the coin is really 100% backed by fiat reserves.

HBD has done quite well so far, but it is only a small niche and could face similar problems as LUNA if it is adopted more widely, as there are efforts to further increase the debt limit. Just as with Fiat.

Worst case for the crypto market, which is just now recovering slightly, would be a crash of Tether now, but I think it is not that likely at the moment.

For HBD, the current calculation is that it would become critical if the HIVE price fell below $0.21. The relatively low debt (about 7% or 16% depending on whether you add HBD in the Hive Fund/DHF or not) is paying off. The officially reported debt is lower because the blockchain uses a 3-day average HIVE price.
