The biggest issue with LUNA is that it had absolutely no utility other than as backing for UST and governance (which is of no value unless there is other value).

Hive and HBD are completely different because Hive has many valuable uses and is essential for an increasing number of businesses whose value creation is unrelated to crypto (eg Splinterlands and other gaming, podcasting, blogging etc). 

Also LUNA was a centralised foundation with BTC reserves that would be sold in a predictable way when under attack.

Hive is decentralised and holders will not act in a predictable (and thus gameable) way when under attack.

Justin Sun learnt just how dangerous and wealth destroying it is to attack the Hive community. Other potential attackers will be much more wary.

I like Kenny G tho.. sure, despite the 'stable' in the  name.. of course there is risk. The bet is that hive will grow (in value) by at least 20% in a year.. sounds kinda conservative to me..

Stablecoins are unstable but HBD is really showing that part of being stable because it is really nice seeing the HBD maintain around $1 which is pretty nice

I think HBD will be fine because there are 3.5 days for the conversion to take place and it's not instant like LUNA.

Mir erscheinen die aktuellen 20 % für HBD auch extrem hoch. Aber ich verstehe das System zur Stabilisierung nicht gut genug, um zu beurteilen, wie groß das Risiko hier wirklich ist...

since it was not the Terra Luna Crash per se, but a liquidation in the greater market, it could happen again and happen to all stable coin systems. Your right, one should be aware of liquidation-triggered death spirals! The fact that Vest Token are a different thing than Luna Token is right, but one should not underestimate the amount of liquid hive/ hive IOUs on exchanges. The problem in a deflationary world are running costs/liabilities that can be paid neither by liquid hive nor by writing a cheque on Vests, so liquidations in to the Dollar are kind of mandatory - especially when HBD gets depeged.

Hive is a much more complex ecosystem and very useful, it cannot be compared to LUNA. But it is very important to reflect, so that similar mistakes are not made, I think that the impact of a fall of Hive would be incomparably greater than the fall of LUNA, as it would destroy an ecosystem that people and companies use every day. As a Hive user, I would like all decisions made to be aimed at a sustainable future for the ecosystem.

HBD is stable just now. The debt limit of 10% and relatively little debt. That should make it secure !

I really see no reason to change the interest rate at this time. HBD is nowhere near the 10% debt ceiling, and even 20% wouldn’t be a problem. HBD is still a Smurf compared to USTerra. If HBD could gain that much traction it would be amazing for Hive, and interest rates could be adjusted as needed. No need to worry 

Es gibt einen relativ einfachen Grund dafür, dass der HBD ein zu geringes Marktvolumen hat um wirklich in der Praxis Anwendung zu finden. Man kann ihn effektiv nur über Bittrex ernsthaft handeln und im Alltag damit bezahlen ist quasi unmöglich.

Deshalb wird erstmal der Supply erhöht, und hier reden wir nur von ein paar Millionen. Wenn man ein paar Millionen HBD mehr zur Verfügung hat, kann man weiter schauen was man macht.
