Russland hat die Unabhängigkeit der Separatisten-Gebiete Donezk und Luhansk in der Ukraine anerkannt und "Friedenstruppen" in den Osten der Ukraine entsandt. Die Frage ist, in wie weit der Konflikt weiter eskalieren wird.

Denke nicht, dass Russland die Ukraine annektieren wird, sondern könnte mir eher vorstellen, dass Putin einen Regime-Wechsel in der Ukraine herbeiführen möchte, auch mit militärischen Mitteln.

### Amerikanische Sicht

Russland möchte die Sowjetunion wiederherstellen. Russland ist wie ein toxischer Freund der seine Ex mit Gewalt zurückholen möchte.

Russland fühlt sich durch die NATO-Erweiterung an seiner Grenze bedroht. Ein NATO-Beitritt der Ukraine wäre so ähnlich als würde Kuba der Volksrepublik China beitreten und China Atomwaffen auf Kuba stationieren. Das würde die USA auch nicht dulden. Russland wirft der Ukraine auch vor, die russische Bevölkerung in der Ukraine zu unterdrücken.

Die Wahrheit liegt wahrscheinlich irgendwo in der Mitte.

### Sanktionen wären ein Schuss ins Knie

Allerdings bin ich gegen Sanktionen, die uns die USA aufzwingen möchten. Die USA möchte uns das Gas abdrehen (North Stream 2 einstellen) und am liebsten alle Wirtschaftsbeziehungen mit Russland kappen.

Das wäre ein Schuss ins Knie. So furchtbar eine Diktatur und ein Krieg ist, so scheinheilig wäre es jetzt, einseitig alle wirtschaftlichen Beziehungen zu Russland aufzugeben, während wir mit anderen Diktaturen und Staaten, die das Völkerrecht und Menschenrechte verletzen, weiterhin Handel betreiben.

### Sanktionen gegen China, Saudi Arabien, USA?

Nach dieser Logik könnten wir mit dem Großteil der Welt keinen Handel mehr betreiben, wegen der Hong-Kong-Krise keine Waren und Rohstoffe mehr aus China importieren, kein Erdöl aus Saudi Arabien und auch den Handel mit den USA müssten wir einstellen, da die USA auch schon Kriege vom Zaun gebrochen hat, um ihre Interessen zu verfolgen.

Ist wieder ein großes Dilemma, was die EU machen soll. Denkt ihr, dass der Konflikt in der Ukraine noch weiter eskalieren wird?

Russia has recognized the independence of the separatist regions of Donetsk and Luhansk in Ukraine and sent "peacekeeping troops" to eastern Ukraine. The question is to what extent the conflict will escalate further.

I don't think that Russia will annex Ukraine, but I could rather imagine that Putin wants to bring about a regime change in Ukraine, also by military means if necessary.

### American view

Russia wants to restore the Soviet Union. Russia is like a toxic boyfriend who wants to take back his ex by force.

Russia feels threatened by NATO expansion on its border. Ukraine joining NATO would be like Cuba joining the People's Republic of China and China stationing nuclear weapons in Cuba. The United States would not tolerate that either. Russia also accuses Ukraine of oppressing the Russian population in Ukraine.

The truth is probably somewhere in the middle.

### Sanctions would be a shot in the knee for the EU

However, I am against sanctions that the U.S. wants to impose on the EU. The USA would like to cut off the European gas supply (stop North Stream 2) and preferably cut all economic relations with Russia.

That would be a shot in the knee for the EU. As terrible as a dictatorship and war is, it would now be hypocritical to unilaterally cut all economic ties with Russia while we continue to trade with other dictatorships and states that violate international law and human rights.

### Sanctions against China, Saudi Arabia, and even the U.S.?

According to this logic, we could stop trading with most of the world, stop importing goods and raw materials from China because of the Hong Kong crisis, stop importing oil from Saudi Arabia, and we would also have to stop trading with the U.S. because the U.S. has also started wars to pursue its own interests.
