What advice would you give to the newbie steemit user ? or what not to do

Be consistent with your posts.  Make sure your content is full and relevant to your audience.  Patience is also key.  It wont happen overnight.

Thank you @jrose1010 , i do my best to keep the content original but haven't had considered to keep the post relevant to audience because unlike fb i dont know my followers, i just post what i like, no wonder i get less upvotes :D   Thank you from now on will consider it.

Create your own original content, if sharing a news story or information from an outside source, link the source in your article, comment on more post than you create, chat with others on Discord and Steemchat  and unclick the auto upvote on your own posts, and save that voting power for others, it comes back to you two to three times.

Just sharing what I have learned by talking to a few Dophin's and Whales in the chat rooms. I also don't ask to be upvoted (unless I am doing a fund raiser for someone else) But I do ask for feedback. I think that people respect that more.
