Hyperloop CEO and co-founder Dirk Ahlborg, at a recent Tampa speech:

“In my vision, you don’t pay for transportation anymore in the future. There’s not going to be a ticket anymore. That’s because in 2018, there are better ways you can monetize.

If I have you for 30 minutes, I can produce much more value out of your 30 minute attention than maybe a $10 ticket price or $20 ticket price. What do you want to do with that time? Do you want to have a massage as an example? Do you want to do your doctor’s visit as you are going to Miami?

There things can now completely change how we see transportation.”

As we have reported, Hyperloop has narrowed its possible routes to 10 finalists. Ahlborg was specifically talking about the proposed Orlando-to-Miami route. Another project – from Chicago to Columbus to Pittsburg – recently announced a feasibility study
