The commercial utilization of the blockchain and distributed ledger is leading its demise.

As long as commercial organizations fight the SEC and CTFC, instead of working with them, ICOs and digital currencies will struggle to gain traction.

Social services and public works need to be what drives digital currency value. The Vitae Foundation is approaching the utilization of digital currencies within an institutional model to ensure easier negotiations with government officials.

We have an incredible opportunity to utilize digital currencies to bootstrap emerging markets with sustainable and locally owned cooperatives working with local governments with a higher degree of transparency than previously possible.

The blockchain needs to be utilized as an internal ledger tool to justify organizational value add, not as a tool to sell shares of a hyped tech start-up.

The future of the blockchain is not in driving profit, but in recording activities of social good.
