Regarding, as you call it, "big buys of VOCUP tokens" that happened in the last four days of November, the thing is the following.
No matter when the purchases of the VOCUP token happen, they **can not** negatively impact the amount of shared rewards. So, the question is, can they impact the shared rewards positively? 
In the bigger picture and in overall, every purchase absolutely has a positive impact only! 

The other pair of shoes is, **when** will this positive impact occur? 
In our concrete case, when rewards are shared on a monthly basis, all the purchases that happen in the last seven days of the month wouldn't have any impact on the total amount of accumulated rewards for that same month. The reason why is that so, it's actually very simple! 

Every day we scroll through the Hive blockchain in search of a **newly** published articles that we are going to curate (upvote). As we all know, the author's rewards, the same as the curation rewards for the published articles on the Hive blockchain, are paid out on the **8th day,** meaning **7 days** (or 168 hours) **after the time of the article's publishing.**

In our concrete case, it also means that the curation reward for the newly published articles that we upvoted in the last seven days of the month will arrive in our account in the following month. 

So, to clear your doubt, the "big buys of VOCUP tokens" that happened at the very end of November certainly didn't negatively impact the amount of shared rewards for the same month, but unfortunately, couldn't have a positive impact either *(as they arrived too late for that).*

However, the factors that may influence the lower number of accumulated rewards are: 
- HIVE coin price drop
- HBD coin more significant price increase 
- The number & value of upvotes that would follow after our upvote has been given for a particular article (or comment)
- Possible downvotes of the article (or comment) that we were upvoting
- The amount of the author's reward for the articles published by us *(if we continue to share it),* and
- The amount of the author's reward for the comments published by us *(if we continue to share it)*

Yeah, you are right; it's still quite a new project. According to the sales dynamics in the first couple of months, we didn't expect either that over half of the 1st edition would be sold out just in the last four days of last month.
