SECRET N° 322 The Shell Wars 06

# Chapitre 6 : Les Vers de l’Ombre
(Où l’on découvre que les vers ont une armée, un hymne, et une obsession pour les couvercles de bocaux.)

UNE RUMEUR SOUS TERRE
Tandis que les branches tremblaient au rythme des intrigues politiques, sous terre, un murmure rampait à travers les racines.

Une voix sifflante, lente comme un discours d’escargot, se frayait un chemin jusqu’à un ancien terrier :

— “Il est temps… D’émerger.”

C’était Commandant Glu, le général des Vers de l’Ombre, un peuple souterrain oublié, considéré par beaucoup comme des asticots paresseux… à tort.

Installés dans un labyrinthe de galeries tapissées de feuilles de journal, ils affûtaient leurs armes : cure-dents, bouchons de liège, et morceaux de papier-bulle. Redoutables.

Leur devise ?

“Nous rampions, nous rampons, nous ramperons.”

LE PLAN : OPÉRATION COUVERCLE
Réunis autour d’un vieux couvercle de pot de confiture, les stratèges versifiants exposèrent leur plan.

Le but : infiltrer la surface, s’emparer du Grand Silo à Noisettes gardé par les marmottes insomniaques.

Commandant Glu traça le plan avec une goutte de bave sur une feuille de salade :

Phase 1 : creuser en biais.

Phase 2 : chanter l’hymne pour le moral.

Phase 3 : renverser un pot.

Phase 4 : faire diversion avec un mime.

Leur atout secret ? Rikiki, un ver contorsionniste capable d’entrer dans une serrure et d’en ressortir avec un cookie.

DE L’AUTRE CÔTÉ DU BOIS… UN DRAME SENTIMENTAL
Pendant ce temps, Castagnor revoyait Belladone dans un coin du tronc :

— “Tu es venue pour la paix… ou pour me trahir ?”

— “Pourquoi pas les deux ?”, répondit-elle en ajustant ses lunettes d’espionne.

Le silence se fit.

Puis un bruit sourd. Speedo, l’escargot porteur, venait de tomber dans un piège à raclette laissé par les putois.

— “Je me suis coincé la coquille… encore…”

UNE ALLIANCE IMPRÉVUE
À l’aube, alors que la forêt s’étirait et que les corbeaux faisaient leurs vocalises jazz, un ambassadeur inattendu arriva.

Représentant du Peuple des Vers, portant une cravate et une cape en peau de banane séchée, il demanda audience.

— “Nous souhaitons… une alliance. En échange… de recettes de compost… et d’espionnage tactique.”

Castagnor, méfiant, répondit :

— “Pourquoi maintenant ?”

— “Parce que l’odeur de roquefort a atteint nos galeries. On n’a plus le choix.”

Belladone sourit.

— “Moi je dis : on teste. Au pire, ils ramperont ailleurs.”

UN HYMNE ÉTRANGE
Pour officialiser l’accord, les vers entonnèrent leur hymne :

“Rampe, rampe, petit être gluant,
Dans la mousse ou dans les vents,
La noisette est notre passion,
Même si on n’a pas de dent.”

Jean-Rasoir éclata en larmes.

— “C’est… c’est magnifique. Tellement gluant. Mais vrai.”

ÉPILOGUE : UNE OMBRE ENCORE PLUS SOMBRE
Mais, dans les profondeurs du Marais des Mornes Matins, une silhouette observait tout… Le Crabe Ancien, exilé des plages, maître du silence et des pinces qui claquent.

Ses yeux globuleux clignèrent une fois.

— “Bientôt… mon tour.”

# Chapter 6: The Worms from the Shadows
(In which we learn that worms have an army, an anthem, and a deep obsession with jar lids.)

A RUMBLE UNDERGROUND
While branches above quivered under the weight of politics and cheese-based warfare, beneath the soil, a whisper slithered among the roots.

A slow, sibilant voice echoed through a forgotten tunnel:

— “It is time… to surface.”

It was Commander Slime, general of the Shadow Worms, an underground people long dismissed as lazy larvae. Fools. They had evolved… and acquired matching bandanas.

In their maze of tunnels lined with crumpled newspaper and mushroom graffiti, they sharpened their weapons: toothpicks, corks, and fragments of bubble wrap. Fearsome.

Their motto?

“We crawled. We crawl. We shall crawl again.”

THE PLAN: OPERATION LIDLORD
Gathered around an ancient jam jar lid, the worm tacticians laid out their master plan.

Their objective: infiltrate the surface and seize control of the Great Nut Silo, guarded by insomniac marmots with anger issues.

Commander Slime traced the strategy using a droplet of goo on a lettuce leaf:

Phase 1: Dig diagonally.

Phase 2: Sing the anthem. Morale is key.

Phase 3: Tip over a pot.

Phase 4: Distract the guards with interpretive mime.

Their secret weapon? Squiggles, the contortionist worm capable of entering a keyhole and exiting with a cookie.

ELSEWHERE IN THE FOREST… ROMANTIC DRAMA
Meanwhile, Castagnor stared wistfully at Belladonna inside the hollow log HQ.

— “Did you come for peace… or to betray me?”

— “Why not both?” she replied, adjusting her spy-glasses with a smirk.

Silence.

Then a crash. Speedo, the giant baggage-carrying snail, had just fallen into a raclette trap left by the skunks.

— “I’ve jammed my shell again… not ideal…”

AN UNEXPECTED ALLIANCE
At dawn, as the forest stretched and the crows warmed up their jazz scales, an unlikely ambassador arrived.

Representative of the Worm People, wearing a tie and a cape made of dried banana peel, requested an audience.

— “We propose… an alliance. In exchange… we offer compost recipes… and elite espionage crawling.”

Castagnor narrowed his eyes.

— “Why now?”

— “Because the smell of blue cheese has reached our tunnels. We have no choice.”

Belladonna chuckled.

— “I say we give it a shot. Worst case, they crawl off somewhere else.”

A RATHER STRANGE ANTHEM
To seal the pact, the worms sang their anthem:

“Crawl, crawl, oh slippery friend,
Through moss and leaf until the end.
Nuts we crave with deep affection,
Even if we lack dentition.”

Jean-Rasoir burst into tears.

— “It’s… it’s beautiful. So slimy. So true.”

EPILOGUE: A DARKER SHADOW RISES
But far away, deep in the Murky Morning Marshes, a shape stirred.
The Ancient Crab, exiled from the beaches, master of silence and dramatic claw-clicking, watched from the shadows.

His googly eyes blinked once.

— “Soon… it will be my turn.”
