Baan Thai - My First Tasteem Review

I live in a small town and there is not much variety in the choice of our restaurants.  In fact, this is the only Thai cuisine restaurant that we have.  That doesn't mean that it isn't a top notch restaurant though.  It's a great place for either a leisurely sit down meal or a fast carry-out meal.

In their front window, they have a large painting done by a local artist.  It features a quote from Abraham Lincoln, who is a prominant part of the local history.  Lincoln was the US's 16th President and he spent time here as governor when this was the state capitol of Illinois.

They also have some interesting wall hanging on the interior.

I'm sure you are more interested in the menu and the food though!  The menu has plenty to offer.  You can order anything with varying degrees of "heat" so that you can match the level of spiciness to your own taste.

I ordered the Pad Garlic Chicken which comes with rice.  It was seasoned perfectly and the veggies were still firm.  There was way too much rice, so I ended up leaving about half of that.  Better too much that too little.  It was also served with an egg roll and dipping sauce.  Very flavorful.

My dining companion ordered Pad Broccoli Chicken and declined the rice.

We also ordered crab rangoon to share.  It was very rich and creamy, a perfect compliment to our entrees.

The service was very good, the owner also came out and asked us how we liked our meal.  The price was very reasonable, the total for both meals, drinks and the crab ragoon was less than $20.  

I was recommend this restaurant to friends and family, and I'll definitely be back!

Bravo!  You did a great job for your first review.  The food looks delicious.  Crab rangoon is a favorite of mine, so that'd definitely be one of my choices.  You didn't quite get the whole menu in your picture, I was kind of interested to know what the other dishes were on that last page!  I like when the owner comes out personally and talks to the customers.  This is a place I would go to.

I didn't think I could ever get into Thai food, but this looks absolutely delicious! I live in the area and I have been by this place 1000 times, never realized they had so many choices. Very nice info, thanks for the post!

This is a good review.  I really like Thai food and the seasonings that are used.  I like that you can order your food with the amount of hotness that you want.  I hate getting food that is too spicy to eat and you can't enjoy it.  But a little bit is good. :)  That was a nice gesture for the owner to come out.  I wonder if they do that for all customers or if was just a chance occurrence.  That dish you ordered had plenty of rice but the entrée didn't look very big and the egg roll seems small.  Did you get enough to be satisfied?
