Troggg Booth - A Troll Tale

_To J. my dear fairytale fantasy writer and penfriend, who could make a difference if he shows my world from a unlike perspective. Keep in mind trolls are Mother Nature's creations too and not the stereotype of big dumb fools.
Love & Luck K._

In a land far away in the North, where the ice-covered mountain tops pinch like needles into the sky, trolls live with their king in his diy palace far above and away from his subjects

No one had ever met or even seen the brutal king, but each one of them was raised with stories about his gigantic posture and barbaric behaviour.
The few elderly still alive growled the warnings in the thin air. The words flew around and fell on the young ones like snowflakes on a stormy day, words no troll could escape from.
The whispers about the ruler, who forcefully made his subjects, those not smart enough to stay away from the palace, work harder than the elves and house gnomes he kept caught within the walls of his domain, were famous.
However, no one knew for sure if it was true and if tiny delicate creatures like elves could stand the cold and if so their wings and limbs weren't frozen or cut off since they make great ingredients and are the magic touch for troll soup.
But above all fat gnomes are the best treat for trolls and there isn't one not willing to fight the other if the scent of a gnome fills the air.

All stories told though it was questionable if the little creatures could withstand the overwhelming odour of the gang of trolls that kept them and their land safe in a natural way from intruders like sneaky humans, smart foxes and lonely wolves distracting them with their howling.

The average troll never complained because he didn't care about being snubbed as long as he was fed and allowed to have a nap around 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. which each one of them did.

It's in the far north, between the mountain peaks, the troll houses can be found in the land of the gang named Troggg. Tiny houses were not too close built next to each other because a troll needs space and privacy to exhibit its behaviour and habit of farting, drooling, burping and nose dripping undisturbed. The biggest stinkers of the group had stayed behind in the caves where they had more room than those living in tiny houses. Everyone was satisfied, each Troggg had a wonderful life as prescribed in the troll law of the year one or one hundred.

The last trees that ever graced the landscape were cut down long ago, about three solstices before the last offspring was born, to build another floor on the king's palace and a bridge to his front door which should make the trolls think if not wonder and ask what's going on inside but they all were too busy minding their own business or those of the troll living the closest by.

Four moons after the shortest day ended light fell on the old bridge and the troll that was about to cross it with his half as high mate. It was as if the cloud in his head disappeared and he finally saw the light.

_Let's do it,_ he growled to his friend who had no clue what he meant but followed in the footsteps of his royal mate like loyal trolls do while dragging a bag with goodies, the two of them had collected, behind him.

_Good._ He stamped with his feet on the ground it was solid. Off he went to move his house to realize the bright idea that had popped up into his head.

_Cook,_ and they did. There it was the first troll booth, selling street food and illusions to each gang member that could afford it which was everyone, since no toll was asked to take the bridge.
It stretched out like a private lane, longer, better than the one to the king's front door, to the famous booth that not long after expanded since trolls can survive without wooden, tiny houses even palaces if stormy winters rule.

The whispers about the king were replaced by those about the booth and the trolls forgot about the cruel one not one of them had ever seen let alone met. All they wanted was to visit that special booth for a treat, a gift or a cup of magical soup, that turned out to work great against fighting dripping noses, served in a wooden bowl by their king.
