>Three pipeline protesters had their misdemeanor cases dismissed Tuesday, and their lawyer thinks a similar result might be warranted for everyone arrested that day.
>The cases pertain to Charles Thayer, Orion Yazzie and Eric Lewis, who were charged with criminal trespass in connection with a Dakota Access Pipeline protest in Morton County on Sept. 13. They were among 22 people arrested that day at a work site near Almont where two people locked themselves to construction equipment.
> "Law enforcement chose to arrest everybody to make a point, to try to intimidate people from engaging in actions around the pipeline. and the lawyer for Mr. Yazzie"
I think we are going to see a lot of these cases dismissed where people were arrested for trespassing. Its looks like the Police just rounded everyone up without due process. How can you charge someone with a crime where the citation doesn't even have anything about trespassing on it.
Sloppy work by the Police if you ask me. They seemed more interested in protecting this Corporations 'rights' than following the Constitution.

>Testing of core samples from the contested Morton County bridge revealed there were no structural problems, according to a release from the North Dakota Joint Information Center.
>According to the release, some repairs to the guardrails and surface of the bridge are needed. Contingent upon security and weather, those repairs could be made in a couple weeks.
>However, the governor's office and Morton County Sheriff's Department say they will not reopen the road until there is an "assurance no criminal activity will take place and federal law enforcement has been introduced into the protest camp to restore law and order."
Bullshit excuses by the Morton County Sheriff. Apparently they want the Feds to get involved and clear out this camp. Mr. Sheriff, how about you follow the Constitution first? People have the right to assembly and do whatever they want to do on federal land as long as it's not hurting anyone else. Arrest them if they block roads and destroy property but other than that just leave them the fuck alone. Maybe we'd have 100 protesters instead of 1,000 camping out if you bureaucrats didn't get off on kicking someone's teeth in and bashing heads.
Mr. Sheriff you are part of the problem and not part of the solution!
