Game

Hear me, 
Great gates, your closed clang 
Only waters my curiosity.
Let us be together like rust 
while I lick shadows from my mouth
& cast spells on the grass. 
I hear your hounds growl;
I'll feed them with water.
I'll wash their fur 
With these terrible hands.
I bring good news from across 
The still desert; 
The children have departed 
For school & now I've come 
So we finish the war 
Our fathers began years ago.
You'll be the king, 
I'll be the castle.
First knock the bolt open.

It's simply chess pieces talking. I gave them voice so they act like persons at war. In a deeper vein, two persons are fighting an old quarrel that started long before they were born and one has come to the other's house to continue it.
