MULTI TASKER: SOME SORT OF POEM

*You have always complained 
And never given much 
But you have claimed 
Heaven as your father's home. 
You have cursed and ranted 
At the police for taking fifty naira 
But the files on your table
Gather dust for the lack 
Of twenty-five thousand
To bail them off.*

*You lips are filled with tongues 
That you speak at Shiloh
And every crusade you attend 
But your heart is empty 
With the deeds you did in Galilee,
The bar beside the road in township.* 

*You claim your father's glory 
On earth with your tongue 
But your hands are squeezing 
The ample portions of that lady's rear
Without remorse or fear.*
 
*You evangelise within your area, 
Spewing verses from the Holy book 
Like it was a rap freestyle contest
Yet you have not greeted your neighbour 
For three months 
Because she dared to touch
Your darling dog's litter box with a stick.* 

*You are a Christian, you say
And your eyes are tightly closed 
In prayers against witches, 
Principalities and powers 
But you walk passed the needy 
With your eyes wide open
And push your relatives away
With your miserly attitude.*

*You dye your hair 
To hide your age 
And refuse to retire 
When you time is done 
But you curse the politicians 
Who come again and again;
Different parties, the same agendas. 
Your hands are in every pie 
But you are also an apostle 
In the Lord's vineyard.*

*How do you combine
The different parts of you 
That collide each day you wake; 
The pastor, the thief, the flirt, 
The father and mother;
How do you do it? 
You must have a special skill, 
A talent at multitasking. 
You must be gifted in deception
And have calling in manipulation.*

*Another day has come 
And you are preaching at the junction. 
I see you and you see me 
And you wink for you know 
That I know that it is all a lie.*
