## 37. Chia Jen/ The Family — 42. I/ Increase
_Jan 31/18_
In [yesterday’s reading](https://steemit.com/life/@warrior.oracle/experience-is-the-best-teacher), the I-Ching spoke of “unavoidable mistakes” or misfortune, to be seen as a learning opportunity (Facebook crypto ban? USD Tethergate possibly??) . Today, hexagram 37, the Family, reminds us of the importance of having a core group that helps to ground each other when affairs outside the home are turbulent. Within a balanced family or team structure, each has a clear purpose and role. Having a life outside of that group structure, is healthy. But it’s the home where all things are returned to it’s place with deliberation. This kind of physical and energetic organization is at the root of Feng Shui. Harmony with your surrounding environment is essential to success, but it must be attended to regularly. This is the day to attend to said matters.

> Clutter is anything unfinished, unused, unresolved or disorganized.
> When you clear your clutter, you make space for new things including renewed energy and creativity.
### 37. Chia Jen/the Family
Chia Jen, also stresses the importance of effective leadership. Having achieved balance at home, strengthens your influence. The two trigrams that form Chia Jen, are wind on top and fire at the base. The interpreted image is that one’s influence, starts from the home and moves outwards. Your words must be backed up by how you conduct your life, only then can they have real weight. However, we must still apply skillful means when exercising influence.
A moving yang line in the third position, refers to indulgence and reckless folly. Though it is generally necessary to balance between being strict and keeping things light, today it is especially important that discipline be favoured more urgently. Do what you must, within reason, to maintain order at “home” today and avoid potential misfortune.

### 42. I/Increase
The resulting hexagram is, “I” or increase. Here we are reminded that the virtue of leadership, is to serve those that seek your guidance. This is what secures your role unto them. If you have to put the foot down, make sure it is for everyone else’s best interest. In doing so, your ambitions are tempered by aligning oneself with virtuous intent. This leads to success.
As things on the outside have been bleak as of recent, we can take this time to restore order at home or on the inside. By taking refuge in being disciplined, we can set ourselves (and potentially those around us) up for success when the conditions are ripe for it. If you are familiar with [Feng Shui](https://steemit.com/life/@warrior.oracle/5-ways-to-step-up-your-feng-shui-game), today would be a good day to learn it.
Stay blessed always,
Lee
