The obverse features the left-facing portrait of King George VI by sculptor Thomas Humphrey Paget, showing the monarch in plain style, without a crown. The reverse, designed by George Kruger Gray, depicts a crowned Tudor rose flanked by a thistle, shamrock, and leek — traditional symbols representing England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales. The legend reads *FID DEF IND IMP*, noting the King’s titles as Defender of the Faith and Emperor of India.
