The GOLD sovereign: the smart investors coin of choice

The gold sovereign first struck by the Royal Mint all the way back in 1489. Over the years it has seen many changes - from circulating currency to retirement and then rebirth and resurgence to become the most trusted bullion coin available the market. Due to its weight in gold, its global recognition and history, the coin is acknowledged the world over by investors as a coin you just have to own.

Thanks to the Royal Mints strict manufacturing standards, the sovereign is trusted globally and is therefore easily tradable and can be liquidated with very little fuss. Its sale and re-sale desirability means that very little is paid over "spot price" when purchasing and very little is lost under "spot price" when coming to sell. This makes it perfect for short and long term inventors looking to flip these coins as the price of gold fluctuates.

Due to its investment-grade status, the Sovereign Bullion Coin is free from VAT.  Furthermore, as it is considered legal UK tender, it is exempt from Capital Gains Tax (CGT) for UK residents.  

>Are there any CGT-free gold and silver bullion products? The simple answer is yes. Capital Gains Tax is exempt on all British legal currency. This includes Gold Britannia coins, Silver Britannia coins and Gold Sovereigns just to name a few. Any coin produced by The Royal Mint with a face value will benefit from being a CGT-free gold investment, or CGT-free silver investment. This means you can make an unlimited tax-free profit on investments of any size and value on ALL of these British legal currency bullion coins.

The CGT exemption is just one of the many reasons why you should be buying the 2022 Sovereign Bullion range. As mentioned earlier, due to the nature of this coin, even the newer releases can be picked up with very little premiums having to be paid. If a full Sovereign isnt withnin your reach, fractional sovereigns featuring the Platinum Jubilee design can also be purchased. These includes a Quarter Sovereign, a Half Sovereign, full Sovereign and Double Sovereign. This gives every level of investor the flexibility and choice to pick their entry level of investment.

A must have that I have not! lol. I have pretty much stayed away from buying any coins because of the high premiums, and have stuck with other forms of .999 gold. But when you see these it's hard not to want one!

Cool story.... while all gold sovereigns are made with 22ct gold(24ct is pure gold), the gold itself can vary in colour slighlty!! Sovereigns have been minted in the UK, South Africa, India,  Australia and Canada, and each mint  gold sovereigns had a slightly different colour. While gold is universal the other 8% of this coins makeup can have slighlty different other metal content, and hence the difference in colours

A pretty Gold Sov, as long as it is pure .999+ Bullion their is no applicable VAT in Canada, but Capital gains would be another matter.

Same here, but with the exception of the sovereign. It avoids VAT and CGT due to its "legal status" as a coin( has a face value). But dont get be started on legal status and legal tender status of coins - some how silver coins gets over looked for both VAT and CGT even with a face value denomination!!
