Es el momento del tomate de invierno que coloquialmente se le dice así por el periodo de lluvias que comprende los meses de abril y junio. Este periodo de lluvias benéfica a algunos pero a otros no tanto, el tomate de invernadero es el que usualmente resiste mucho mas las lluvias.
Pero los tomates de campo abierto no la toleran y suelen dañarse mucho mas rápido, por ello aquellos agricultores que logran cosechar suelen vender a precios muy elevados.

En esta temporada tenemos 2 invernaderos que ya están sembrados, el mas grande medidas 60x21 tiene en su interior 2550 plantas aproximadamente, una planta hibrida F1 de tipo saladette llamada Shanty, es muy resistente a virus y bacterias, al igual que condiciones climáticas, es un poco insípido su sabor por ello se utiliza para salsas. Usualmente lo cultivan en los llanos de aquí y suele cosechar antes del periodo de lluvias, como la cantidad de hectáreas cosechas es muy grande el precio por cesta de este tomate baja hasta los 3-5$ por cesta, y recordemos que una cesta pesa aproximadamente 24-25kg.

Estas plantas ya tienen un poco de tierra "arrimada" palabra que define agregarle tierra al tallo para que enraíce mucho mejor y mas rápido luego de 14 días. El crecimiento es bárbaro, y se puede notar la diferencia desde el día del trasplante.

Para trasplantarlas nos encargamos 2 personas de abrir los huecos en la tierra para que el cono de las plántulas encaje perfectamente, y luego los demás se encargan de colocar la plántula y taparla con un poco de tierra.

Se remojan en una solución química de un fungicida con un insecticida para prevenir enfermedades y que algunos insectos dañen las raíces cuando están pequeñas, además se fumiga el ambiente un día antes para dejarlo libre de plagas.

Para el siguiente caso en el otro invernadero, la tierra aun estaba mojada, las semillas ya tenían 35 días y debíamos trasplantarlas muy rápido para evitar que se atrasara su crecimiento. Así que debimos hacer los surcos donde colocaríamos las plantas a la antigua escuela con pico y pala, ya que no podíamos pasar el tractor, esto se hace para que la tierra quede mucho mas suelta y las raíces se adapten mucho mejor.

El día del trasplante llovió de tal manera que no pudimos hacer mas nada en dos días. Solo esperar que la tierra secara.

Aplicamos el mismo proceso de solución química y sembramos, la diferencia es que en este invernadero de 40x20 hay 1730 plantas aproximadamente y es de tipo saladette Álvaro. Un tomate con mucho mas sabor especial para ensaladas.

El día de hoy las plantas de Álvaro tienen 3 días en la tierra, y las Shanty 16 días.
