https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=330eQ60oL4M Literally yesterday I wrote my early review on the game and I discussed that the biggest flaw in the game at the moment is there is no way to try it out or test out the Axies you like before you buy. If it was only a small fee this would not be a problem but with $250-$300 being the cheapest for Axies (and you need 3) it is a very steep hill to bring in new players. It is actually impressive the amount of users considering the cost to entry. But there is a free mode coming that will not only encourage growth of new players but also no take away from the investments of the older players. ### Confirmed Tweet The information comes from a Tweet from the Axie account itself that was addresing some FUD that was being thrown around about the new update. People were saying that free-to-play Axies could earn tokens and the team came out to say this is a lie. There is no way for free Axies to earn and they used more so to onboard new players. This will come with the update of V2 battles. ### Axie battles V2 What We Know? Absolutely nothing at all from what I see. All they have is one screenshot with two Axies and a tree monster standing there. Oh and is goes by the codename Origin right now which I'm sure means something but I have no idea what it is hinting at. But with this new Tweet we also know that players can try the game out without paying. And I think you will also be able to upgrade your cards so that should give more uses for your Axies that you are not using as you can sink them for upgrade parts. This will in turn increase the value of the market for the Axies. ### The Next Step To Mainstream Let's be honest not many people are going to drop this kind of money on cute little Axies that fight other Axies. On top of the high price there is also the whole crypto thing. The user base on Ethereum is growing daily but there is still a lot of people that do not know what a wallet is or where to put their private keys. A free mode can come with an email sign up and get a lot of people gaming before they even know it is on the blockchain. ### Mobile Too Also keep in mind that this app has a mobile version where you can log in and do your pvp on the way to work or as you wait for your lunch on your break. This is where a lot of users are as not every one has a pc or a console at home but almost everyone has a phone. ### Global Domination? I don't know how big this game can get but with a million users it is already holding it's own. Not only is it doing well for a blockchain game but a video game in general. I would love to 10 millions players and an esport going for this to really get it in front of as many players as possible. This might be that "killer app" that starts to bring in a lot of users to the world of blockchain gaming. Time will tell how big this will get but with the free mode and a mobile app the ground is set to get in as many players as possible to at least try the game and tell their friends about it.
