Who else remembers them?

Point and click games used to be a huge genre that you don't really see anymore. To be fair  I am not really gaming at this time, or have been for some time as I've been busy, so there might be some new point and click games on steam that I have missed out on. But even if there is, it is not the genre that is once was. I would argue at one point it was one of the most popular on the PC.

I spent hours with Willy Beamish trying to get him out of trouble and ready for the gaming championship. I didn't get far as I was young and point and click games could be very tricky. This was before we could look things up on a FAQ and figure out what we were doing. So we went around clicking on anything hoping to get a clue on what to do next.

That was the biggest problem with a lot of these games, each one had there own sense of logic. This lead you to collect every item you see and randomly try it on EVERYTHING hoping that it would do something. And there was also pixel hunting for items. You would literally have to run the mouse over the screen and watch to see if there was something you could interact with that you didn't think you could.

There are a list of them I still want to play. The old King Quests and several others.I need to spend a week or two one of these days and find a bunch. And then spend as much time as I can not looking at a FAQ (though you will always crack and look for a hint or two). 

Maybe it is the fact that FAQs are so easy to find that this genre is not a big anymore but it probably has to do with a shifting market of more interactive games and multiplayer. But still these were a lot of fun and I would like to see a return of them.
