It might help a little, but I believe not to much. If you look at the curation league hosted by @abh12345, you can see a few top commenters in the 2nd league. Those Steemonians wrote hundreds of comments on a weekly basis. It takes them a full work week (like 40 hours per week) and yet they don't have a large group of followers their selves. Of course they do a bit better then the average. But only very few new Steemonians succeed in getting like 20+ comments per post and $10+ value.

In one thing you are totally right, follow you for some geeky stuff. No discussion about that!

Very good momentum and advice for those who are coming to this platform, Steemit is growing too fast, that is why it is almost impossible for people with great voting power to see us very often, I will tell you that every beginning is difficult, just the perseverance and being constantly working here is what will give you the greatest impulse.
Comment is an excellent tool for you to get to know quickly and win a few votes of pleasure. But I tell you not to faint, to keep going, that you will do very well.

You are totally right, I took this advice from a friend who regularly comments on interesting posts. Also, that cat has nipples.

Really true man. Commenting helped me gain exposure and recognition in my early days on the block chain. It still is - one tool that is very important

Do you know when communities will come out and what it will look like? Do you have any good resources for learning about what it will look like? 

I really try to comment on as much as possible, but I still enjoy writing articles! Even if no one is reading them, they are fun to make and post! Maybe someday they will be more featured and appreciated. Until then, I'm just writing for my own fun.

For me, If you are creating/posting content, try to find a community that has the same interest as yours. Follow them and make connection.

Great advice. It really sad how people look down on comments as a source of development. Aside standing the chance of receiving upvotes from generous people, you are also increasing the exposure of your account...which is a good thing.

Very good advice and very good if this advice is used by the beginner steemit, so they do not quickly give up to post in steemit. besides with this advice I will also reproduce comments from the article post. Thank you for the advice.

I recently just wrote something similar on my page. Its imperative the as a newbie you engage people who have been here for something by way of commenting--meaningful comment and with time build your reputation.

Great! is the same as I repeat every day, although I confess that I am tempted to publish I have decided to start interacting with the community and so little by little to make myself known, and I think it is very successful on their part to reach their large number of followers this small and no less important guideline.

Yeah, that's true. I have also noticed, that despite the fact I didn't write any new post, I have some new followers just because I post some comments under their posts. It's fun. Also good tip IMHO is to use curation trail to search for interesting content. Let other filters posts for you ;) it's easier to find interesting things, than to use "newest" feed. But to be honest, I found this post on newest tab :D

Dude. It is a steemit problem and you thinking otherwise and comparing steemit to other social media platforms where most influencers do become popular because of their good content (well, arguably good because I still think most of them are shit but I understand why they appeal to the masses), I'm sorry but it is laughable. I'll write a post about it once I reach 40 reputation (I don't know why then, lol, I should just do it now...) but anyway only thing I'll say here, 99% of trending and hot posts are whales and dolphins posts....and no it's not because your posts are good (they are mostly pretty far from good) but it's because you upvote your own posts and then you only need few more upvotes to get there....NOT FAIR and very bad for this business so of course it is a steemit problem.

At first I was having a hard time finding articles that piqued my interest enough to comment. However over time I have found different communities/users within Steemit that I find really interesting and I comment a decent amount now. 
You definitively get a lot more out of Steemit if you are commenting!

Thanks for the advice. I definitely post more than comment, I will change that up and see what type of results it yields.
