Life is hardly what it could be but it is certainly alright!  I can hardly understand how anyone still feels boredom in this day in age. If I want to deal with people, I do.  If not there is always nature or the internet or all the countless stories of faraway lands

I am still trying to build up my student base but I got my first student last week who sees me for what I am worth.  Just 13 to go until I can take it easy with the recruitment. About 7 or 8 to go before I can sponsor my own visa. 

I will be getting back to adjusting my advertising tactics in a day or two but for today, I worked on relieving tense muscles in my arms and ribcage and worked out while watching season 2 of Vikings.  

I think I have more in common with pagans than with what we think of as “western religions”.  The Norse gods seem a bit violent and their society too brutal for me, but at least they had a deep connection with nature.  That has always been what turned me off about modern western culture, the way it seems to act as if it’s beyond nature, the way it fails to understand that life communicates. Obviously there are lots of exceptions, some of them may be reading this. 

 In my current incarnation, I surely wouldn’t live long in that kind of environment, but part of me always wishes I had been raised tougher and in tune with nature.  I wish I could pick up a wild snake like @papa-pepper does.  I wish I could fight without much thought of my own safety and mortality, trusting that whatever happens is what should happen.  I’ve always admired those who can stare death and brutality in the face and not shrink from it, especially those who hear the trees whisper.

I admire fearlessness and so I can’t really empathize with this mentality of always trying to minimize losses all the time.  Life is uncertain, always. The least we can do is TRY to face that fact. 

But as I always say, culture is something we create, not something we have to accept as it is. For now I’m enjoying this city existence and sharing these ideas in the heart of the beast. I feel like I’m living my calling. It took a while but I’m finally living my calling. 

Last night after work, I met a friend at a fancy restaurant, which to my surprise, wasn’t all that expensive in comparison to the places I usually eat. It just happens to overlook the fancy business part of town and attract customers who fit into society rather well.  

I told my friend about my dream where the moon wrote poetry for me and about skinny dipping and turning down mushrooms but then playing drums at a waterfall. She told me about her wild mom who she goes on road trips with. The couple in front of us was giggling at our conversation too, and pretending they weren’t. It made me happy

I still don’t feel totally at ease in those kinda of environments but I’m getting there. The people there are going to my future students and I’m going to tell them similar stories so it felt great to make the people in front of us giggle. The food was definetly better than what I’m used to do if like to get used to that kind of place. 

We were the last ones there on the balcony and so security asked us politely to leave. On the way to the elevator I said “see you tomorrow!” to security and the waiter. 

I could get used to such a place. I don’t mind fancy, especially if it’s delicious. I just mind cheap chain stores destroying local business. And I don’t do snobby ness and social norms. So I look forward to going to the same place in sandals and yoga pants next time! 😀 

I’d like to get back to building Hive Cross Culture and I need to improve my Japanese so that I can read at a reasonable speed and understand complex topics spoken to me. So if you are down let’s do this!  If anyone wants to do a 60 days of Japanese with me let me know!
