I often look at my surroundings, especially the people who enter into my life and whether pleased or displeased, I ask myself “What was I putting out there to attract this?”  The people around me may not reflect the story I am telling myself about myself but when I dig deeper I can always find thoughts and feelings that resonate with the people around me.  

Sometimes I have different things going on at different levels of my psyche.  There is what I want on one level and it may be consistent with what I think I believe but then in the face of struggle, I can feel lack mentality pop up from beneath the surface.  It is always there, otherwise it would not come up, I’ve just fooled myself into thinking it’s not there.  If it is truly not there than even if struggle popped up I would be bale to see  clearly how this challenge was allowing me to level up and get closer to what I desire.

There is also the situation where the fear or dislike of something causes me to focus on it far too much, either consciously or subconsciously.  Then that unwanted thing will show up all over the place or make itself even more unavoidable.  If I think “people are fake” or “people are selfish”, or perhaps if I don’t think these thoughts directly but I fear that the people around me are fake or selfish, I will find myself surrounded by fake people. If I am to release the resistance to such kinds of people I will either find that the same people do not always exhibit such traits OR I will gradually (or perhaps quickly) find myself surrounded by more authentic people.  

When we are more investigative into what our experiences may be telling us about our focus, we gain a whole new depth of understanding into cause and effect in our lives.  We no longer think recklessly because we can begin to understand that our thoughts have a huge impact on our experience, serving as a beacon for similar vibrations.

You can try this any time.  Sometimes it takes a while to figure out what exactly attracted someone or something into your experience, and then there are some little things which it may be impossible to understand, but when you start to see patterns, whether pleasant or unpleasant, you can almost always trace it back to certain repeated thoughts (beliefs) which you were having or thoughts that you didn’t think consciously but which you had been programmed to think in certain circumstances.  So it isn’t just what we think, but also what we are capable of thinking due to our beliefs in lack or abundance that determine what we experience.
