Twitter and Facebook Stocks Drop 51.2 Billion in Combined Market Share

- Facebook and Twitter have collectively seen $51.2 billion erased from their market caps over the last two trading sessions as investors balk at their banning of President Trump.
- Facebook saw $47.6 billion erased from its public valuation, while Twitter's market cap dropped by $3.5 billion.
- Both companies announced last week they would permanently ban the president, saying keeping him on their platforms posed too large a risk of additional violence.
- The bans come as Trump faces blowback from the government and corporations for his role in inciting last week's violent riots at the Capitol.

I'm not a Trump fan, but I am a fan of Freedom and while I fully acknowledge private companies can make their own decisions about who can use their platform and for what reason, it was a huge wake up call for me about the role of Media, Big Teach and public opinion, combined with political power.

Also the media has been misleading about who was banned it wasn't just Trump, but rather millions of accounts some very large with large followings.

I don't think the financial pain will last for long as the main stockholders of Twitter isn't private citizens who will log into their Etrade account and dump Twitter.  The stockholders are huge 401k Management companies with an abundance of political clout.

The same fund management companies also own the primary shares on CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, and pretty much every American Media company.

In addition they own all the top banks



If you remove all political affiliation from the story, I think you can see why this is concerning.  Perhaps you like their choice this time, but it's just too much power in a small billionaire groups' hands.

The political favors that Zuckerburg of Facebook and Jack of Twitter are earning right now will likely more than pay off.

My position on this has nothing to do with Politics I am neither a Democrat or a Republican and I neither Hate nor approve of Trump.  I'm just hoping the average American starts to see how the Billionaire Class is manipulating the masses THROUGH our politics.

I think the less you care about Democrats vs. Republicans and the more you look at the system of Political Donations, Mainstream Media, Banking, Government Contracts and Tax laws the more concerning this seems.

If you would like to take this time to vent your frustrations or deep love of Trump in the comment section, feel free.  It's not the point, and I don't care.

These billionaires are infiltrating every public source of information we have available to us and they did not stop at protecting their own platforms they went after (successfully) Parler and other platforms as well.

It's not even just about USA anymore. These companies have the entire world by the cojones. So much power in one place and the people being controlled literally keep them there because "it's just a tweet anyways"

Well i actually do think Jack Dorsey is a legit okay guy. I think Jack has fallen into what's up till now been the unavoidable trap of ceo of a company with shareholders. This is why Henry Ford wanted out and Elon Musk wanted out. It's not anything like people imagine that they are at the head. They are in the capacity of employee to those shareholders and they have to act in their best interest namely money. What Donald Trump did was totally unexcusable i think a ban permanent was extreme for a President of the United States. I believe maybe they held trump to standards they hold any other member to maybe under the circumstances Trump should have been a special case and maybe a bright yellow tag should have appeared on his account and posts saying.. Our president is insane he says harmful crazy stuff that may be harmful to your life. Similar to how we get the prescription drug label this may result in death. I would have been okay with him with that yellow tag. Still letting this outrageous ridiculous info go out. The only reason i'd agree to that because i do feel people should hear even crazy information provided there is a waiver put up and warning message given. Then people can make their own decisions.

I think twitter and facebook just follows a protocol to deal with bad actors effectively and it would violate the basis of the rules if they treat others different even if a president of the united states i suppose. So i dont think Jack is the problem.. I think he's mislead like many and he thinks btc is going to bring this freedom we're after i dont think it is. I think btc is just allowing for more tracking of people than cash. So i dont necessarily believe its working in our best interest. Sure it may not be able to be printed but it certainly can be manipulated and controlled by a small few even worse than cash. I think Blackrock is part of the Cabal and that's why they'd do that..or like Jack Dorsey they may be in the dark.

They own the world.    That little ring of 'better than thous' runs the entire global economy and if you don't toe the line, you probably won't get very far.   It isn't going to end well no matter which side you choose.    

Frankly, they are all players on the same team and we are the opposition, in my opinion.   It's unfortunate that we are so easily led as a whole.  It makes their job of driving those wedges that much easier.

I made note of it last week.  It could be just the market pullback.  And you are right, most will not dump the stock over this.

However, what will hurt is if revenues and earnings go down.  If they lost millions of users, that affects advertising.  That is something that Wall Street funds do pay attention to.

It is an interesting move tactically and the immediate result is fascinating!

I am with you on my hatred for that Jack-ass-o-lantern (pretty proud of myself for that one ;) but the far left annoys me almost as much. These companies are just making headlines for themselves as any news reinforces the current legitimacy of platforms who have had their day. Seems they are trying to take the sanctimonious high road for the greater good but risking alienating people/investors who identify as on the right side of a political spectrum we are being herded one way or the other. 

We all know the evils of centralized media from the standpoint of those companies reaping the rewards from our content, building algorithms to feed us bullshit, and censorship. Seems like we have known this a long time and being early adopters of blockchain and decentralized platforms, it is nice to see others come to that conclusion with us.
