Best line in the whole paper is at the bottom of page 10...
"Why Einstein? I first used Schrodinger, but that so scared the cat that she hid under the bed"

So this is good and thanks for bringing it up. I was wondering why Susskind had been celebrating and why this topic was coming up as "new" when the basis has been well know for a long time.

What's really news here is that Leonard Susskind has changed his mind.
He was one of the those who originally postulated ER=EPR.

For those who don't know. Einstein and Rosen put out several papers together during the 1930s.
One of these described a solution to GR, which postulated the existence of an einstein rosen bridge. Something that we would now simply call a wormhole.

A few years later Einstein Podosky and Rosen put out another paper in which they described an effect we now call quantum entanglement.

What ER=EPR means, is that with a simple geometrical transformation , these two concepts are functionally identical.

Leonard Susskind originated this idea and he's a real quantum physicist so people took what he said about his theory at face value.

In the last decade as the theory has gained more and more adherent's there has been a lot of research and investigation into the topic.
Unfortunately it has also generates a lot of popsci quantum woo and frankly more than it's fair share of quantum bullshit.

So the headline of this article is wrong. This is NOT a new theory.
But prior to now, it was considered a "special case", an "edge case".

What Susskind is now claiming is that this is fundamental to the makeup of the universe. Basically microscopic entangled wormholes are actually the material from which the universe is made, as opposed to just something the universe can do under the right set of conditions.

In otherwords, you're full of wormholes.
Lots of people have postulated this in the past.
Susskind and others have always dismissed those theories as quantum woo.

Now he's saying that he too has been woo'd :D

A better title for this article should be "Leonard Susskind changes his mind, QM world collectively craps it's pants". :D

It's a good read and it's easily approachable. I highly recommend everyone read the paper in full.
