Many people judge success by the day, hence, they fail before they even start. 

They set a big goal that require some expertise and skills which could take years to master, but due to the fact that they want a quick result, they would relent after awhile and eventually, give up the pursuit of the set goal. At first, expectations are high when those big goals are set, self vows are made to work relentlessly toward achieving the said goal. Some of what they hope for are: "I will be respected more when this is achieved", or even the fact that they would earn more and be more influential. 

There is a probability that you are one of those people that  expect things or results that are unrealistic. No matter how goal oriented we may be, there are chances we aim at what we cannot achieve because we didn't take the pain to map out our plan. 

People give up on their goals at an early stage because all they want or care about is the outcome and they pay less or no attention to the skill. Often times people talk about what they want to be and the glamour that is attached to it, but it's quite unfortunate that they never take the steps to achieving what they proclaim they want to become. It is in the nature of humans to fall deeply in love with a grand idea that they create in their head and when they reach their first road block they make it their last. They come to the conclusion that they have failed. The shinny and glam reward was their driving force and when it's not achieved, they QUIT.

In addition, a good percentage of goal setters get distracted by what someone else is doing - hence, they lose focus. This could be simply put as someone who gives up eating the rice and salad that's on his/her table because they want the pizza and smoothies they see on someone else's. Most especially, when the distraction seems or appears to be easy to execute, which in most cases is not. This is caused as a result of lack of discipline which leads to misplacing your priorities and eventually speeds up the giving up process.

Some of the reasons people give up on their goal early may include one or more of the following:
1. They give friends, family or colleagues the power to influence their decisions. They care about what people think.
2. Birds of a feather flock together, yea? They are always in the company of people that doesn't have dreams or goals - negative and unproductive influence. There is a high chance that they would influence your decisions negatively and make you be like them. 
3. They lose belief in themselves, dream starts to fade out, disappears and they give up.
