One of the major factors of a happy life is having purpose. A life that does not have purpose is bound not to have focus, direction and will only live a stressful life because everything will be done without sense of direction. It is important that every individual have a purpose for their life such as working hard to be successful in their academics/career, providing for family, helping the poor and the less privileged, making strong connections with people, volunteering to fight against climate change and other environmental issues, and so on. Having one or more purpose or passion in life will increase your level of happiness especially when you are able to achieve them.

However, it is crucial to note that every individual's purpose in life varies - it is rare for two individuals to have exactly the same purpose(s). So, what is your purpose in life? After a thorough consideration you may conclude that your purpose in life, for instance, is to be successful in your business and put a smile on people's faces by rendering help and support for those that are in need. Therefore, you may have spent several years building your business and you have become a very successful one, to the extent that you are well-known for helping people around you. But, even with all these you are not happy. 

This is because during all the years that you were working on building your business, and rendering help to people around you, you didn't focus on your personal life. You sacrificed so much to make other people happy but you least focused on yourself. You didn't bother to find a life partner, you spend less time with your family, you are always working and give no room for vacation and so on. In this case, you had a laudable purpose but it may not be your purpose in life because it does not make you happy in the end. Maybe you should have combined these purposes together from the beginning so that it will all make sense on the long run. 

This means that in other to be happy you must be ready to discover your purpose in life. You don't discover your purpose in life by chance, it requires that you take action. If you are yet to discover your purpose in life, you can start by trying out new things that you haven't been doing before. This can be a way to unlock your potentials and give you an insight into your real life purpose. Try something new that you find interesting and passionate about. You can not be happy by copying your friend's purpose in life because you are two different people with unique personalities. So, you have to discover and define your purpose. Mr A's purpose may be to provide a good life for the community at large and Mr B's purpose may be to just provide a good life for his immediate family.

Do you see the difference? Even though they look similar, they are quite different. So you must be able to understand your person and discover what works best for you, something that you are passionate about.
